Hi, I had a VW T4 van when I was fitting kitchens, when I moved into other forms of employment I converted the van into a camper. I can distinctly remembering one of my sons whilst seeing me take a jigsaw to the roof ( to fit a fibre glass high top ) asking if I really wanted to do this!! Well I did and the van has now done over 200,000 miles taking in Spain a couple of times, Italy and most counties including Wales and up to York. Although the van has been, so far, the most reliable element in my life as I have got older the T4 seems to have got smaller!! So I have recently bought a newish Fiat Ducato to convert. Three reasons, firstly I thought it would give me something to do. Secondary I have a son who once worked with me fitting kitchens and then went on to fitting Sunseekers ( very expensive boats ) Now in a job which offers above average income but with no creative satisfaction and I thought it could be a project he would be interested in, Thirdly, I did wonder if there could be a profit in the balance. The conversion plan was my own, basically if it didn't sell I would keep it. The Ducato is wider then a Transit so I was able to fit two bunk beds 6ft x 2ft 6ins across the back. Also I have the ability of having a double bed if required. It has a cubicle for a WC and vanity unit and hot and cold water. A microwave / grill plinth heater 2 burner hob and sink a condensing fridge, split charger and PMS electric control panel. Not forgetting a TV aerial on the roof which can be directed from inside one of the cupboards. The furniture has been constructed with cream board with walnut show sides. We have also fitted a LED lighting along the front edge of worktop and underneath wall units which can be controlled by and infra red panel. Best wishes Colin
