I am an impecunious retired engineer. My lovely wife of 62 years died in May 2014. We loved caravan touring, visiting the seaside, especially in the South-West, looking at and learning about historic houses, castles and the like. We always had a dog and our last one, Millie, a much-loved beautiful golden retriever, is now my 24/7 companion. Although in my 85th year I do a great deal of day-to-day driving. I towed our caravan around the West Country and the South-West last autumn to visit far-flung relatives and friends, and I plan to repeat this in 2015. Touring is now a lonely business with no-one to share scenic and culinary delights with me. Millie listens to me but makes no comments! I love photography and I also use the internet extensively to help me to get the most out of my touring. My caravan is a decrepit Avondale Sport 435, bought in haste when I found my classic Royale too heavy for the tow car I am now obliged to use . Like so many things bought in haste I have repented at leisure. I have done a lot of work inside the van to overcome hidden defects and to make it more serviceable for my late wife and myself - but it still looks as though it ought to be on the scrap heap! However, it will see me out. Last, but by no means least, I am a practising Christian and love attending churches along the way.
