Beer festivals

Does your mind wander off to child-free days and activities? Then hop on board the caravan and put your party hat on, because countless beer festivals across the UK would be happy to have you and only you as their guest. And because beer fest is best enjoyed when you have accommodation nearby, read our examples of listed campsites, and make the most of your days and nights spent at beer festivals.

Every day is beer fest day in the UK. Not convinced? Check out upcoming CAMRA events near you, and clear your schedule for the rest of the year. After all, this is just one of the many festival campaigners in the UK. If you have the time to browse all of these events, then please do, but if not, then take our word for it and do your best to attend the following:

The Great British Beer Festival

CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) puts together the biggest beer festival in the kingdom, The Great British Beer Festival, annually. In 2017, the festivities for its 40th anniversary will be in full swing between August 8 and 12 at the Olympia Exhibition Centre in London. Fresh and traditional ales, fizzy lagers, bottled lambic beers, tangy ciders and refreshing perries will be served and tasted at the many brewery bars. Guzzle down your bitter, stout, porter, mild, old, golden ale or any other grog of choice as a string quartet, a cover band, a brass band, a jive band or a solo performer lift up your spirits. Pitch up at the Crystal Palace Caravan Club Site for easy access to Kensington by bus.

Beerfest UK

Beer is a universal language, and one of its many dialects is German. So, as eager as you may be to quench your thirst with some 'proper British beer', a cultural exchange wouldn't hurt every now and then. And because Oktoberfest is so far away, why not try German-themed beer festivals like Beerfest UK instead? Several venues across Southampton, Swindon and Swansea will be celebrating from mid-September to late October, so you'd best dust off your lederhosen and your dirndls, because beer will wait for no one. Gobble down some schnitzel and bratwurst while you're there, and then wash them down with a pint. The Oxwich Camping Park in Swansea, Postern Hill Wiltshire near Swindon and Riverside Holidays in Southampton are only a few examples of nearby listed campsites.

London Craft Beer Festival

There's no such thing as too many tipples, at least not in London Town, where micro-brewing is very 'in' at the moment. According to London Craft Beer Festival's organizers, the 5th edition will be held at the National Centre for Circus Arts in Hoxton Square in Shoreditch between Friday August 4 and Sunday August 6. More than 40 breweries, including Scandinavian and American ones, not just local ones, will be promoting over 300 keg and real beers in total at this most inspiring of all ale festivals.

Birmingham Beer Bash

The Birmingham Beer Bash is less fussy than most ale festivals when it comes to the type of beverages displayed. Cask and keg beer is just as important to the attendees here, and international brews like the legendary lambic are welcome. Tastings, workshops and brewing demonstrations will take place in this small but bustling venue in Digbeth. You may want to ask about the Brewsters' Brunch when you get there, and make sure you book to pitch at one of the nearby Birmingham Campsites.
