Welcome to Little Upton Boutique Belltents

Glamping Bell Tents in Cornwall

Little Upton Boutique Belltents are located in the heart of South East Cornwall within peaceful and unspoilt countryside on the edge of Bodmin Moor. This is a popular area for walkers. Our campsite is set within our smallholding which has a variety of animals including our two alpacas “Starsky and Hutch”! It is quite common to walk out of your tent and bump straight into a chicken!! However, we do try our best to keep the other animals fenced in!

Our site retreat offers you the chance to relax and enjoy the unobstructed panoramic views of Dartmoor but is located close enough to activities and many attractions for those looking for a more active holiday.

Tents

BELL TENT INFORMATION
Bell Tents offer the perfect combination of back-to-nature living, but with the usual comforts that you would wish for on your holiday. The tents are spacious and have comfortable futons and snug wood burning stoves. They are perfect for people who want something different from their holiday. Anyone can have a bell tent experience from families and friends to romantics, those in search of adventure and anyone who loves being outdoors and feeling close to nature. The Bell tent experience has something to offer everyone.

OUR BELL TENTS
Our tents are erected on raised decking and have heavy-duty flooring to keep everyone warm and dry. Our bell tents are 5 meters in diameter, so are easily big enough to sleep four people comfortable. They are lightweight but strong, high quality cotton canvas and have a natural color to give a warm and gentle vibe. They are fully waterproof and when the sun is shining you can roll up the sides and enjoy the view and let nature in!

-One double Futon style bed and two more singles (if required) enough to sleep four people, which all easily turn into seating during the day
-Wood burning stove with hot water tank
-Double tiered tee lights on centre pole

OUTSIDE OUR BELL TENT
- A BBQ and equipment (you will need to bring charcoal)
- Woodern table and chairs
- Firepit

FAQ'S

Will I get cold?
The bell tents all have wood burners so you can be as warm as you require.

Are the tents Safe and Secure?
We take no responsibility for any loss or damage, however you are able to padlock the tents if you feel necessary but you must provide this yourself. Bell tents are only as safe as normal tents.

What do I need to bring?
You will need to bring your own bedding, sheets, pillows and a duvet or sleeping bag and towels/t- towel. However, we may provide these at an additional cost but that would need to be discussed on booking.

Can I bring my Dog?
We are happy to have dogs on the site providing they are kept on the lead at all times and you pick up after your dog.
We may also provide a package for you at an additional cost to enable you to have a day out without the dogs if required and all their needs will be met whilst you are away. i.e doggy walks, feeding etc!!

Can I wear shoes inside the tents?
Unfortunately we do not allow outside footwear inside the tents so please bring alternative footwear if necessary. Wellington boots are always a good idea as the English weather can be so unpredictable!

Facilities

Washing Facilities

An old piggery was converted in 2010 into a communal bathroom area which contains a toilet, wash hand basin (with hot water) and a hot shower.

Kitchen

The other end of the piggery has been converted into a communal kitchen and dining area. The kitchen has a fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, microwave, all pots & pans, cutlery glasses etc. Each tent has it's own BBQ but you will need to bring charcoal.

Food

When available free-range hen eggs and free range pork (sausages, bacon, chops or belly etc) maybe purchased.

Recycling

Please use the recycling area located next to the piggery where there are separate bags for plastic/tin, glass, paper and general waste.

Further Afield

Horse Riding

We have an equestrian centre which is approximately 4 min drive away with superb riding
over Bodmin Moor and along miles of quiet country lanes. They provide rides to suit all

Siblyback Lake is approximately 4 miles away. A host of water sport activities are available

Walking

We are situated in an ideal spot for walkers, being on the edge of Bodmin Moor and there are many public footpaths around locally. We are very close to Minions where you can walk around disused engine houses and quarries. There is also a museum dedicated to the mining history. Here you can find the Hurlers Stone circle and legend has it, it is difficult to count the number of the Hurlers at Minions, but should you do so correctly, a misfortune will befall you!! The Cheesewring quarry produced blue-grey granite. The railway at the Cheesewring Quarry opened in 1844 and was used to transport granite to Liskeard and Looe for export, the old track is still visible in areas.
The Cheesewring itself is a spectacular series of flat boulders over thirty feet round set on top of a number of smaller stones. It is a natural formation of balancing rocks, believed to have been formed by glaciation and erosion over thousands of years. The name comes from its shape.

Cycling Bikes can be hired from Trevallick's Farm Shop & Tea room and you can explore the local sites of Bodmin Moor and the surrounding area. www.cornishcyclehire.co.uk Top quality Adult and children cycles are available as well as their Brand New Electric cycles !! They will also drop the bikes to the Glamp site!!

Beaches

Upton Cross is positioned halfway between the two beautiful Cornish Coastlines. The famous fishing port of Looe is on the South Cornish coast and is approximately 14 miles away whilst other coastal beauty spots such as Polperro and Fowey are all within easy access. The North Coast is approximately 30 miles which is excellent for surfing etc.

On Our Doorstep....
We are nestled in the heart of a picturesque village called Upton Cross. You may have heard of our village as there is an award winning delicious farmhouse Blue cheese made here and it won the 2010 world champion cheese!

Caradon Inn. We have a local traditional Inn 1 minute walk away which is close enough to walk to but not too close to be disturbed by. http://www.thecaradoninn.co.uk/

Sterts. Also on our doorstep, 1 min walk away, we have an open air amphitheatre which has some great productions throughout the summer. http://www.sterts.co.uk/

Shop/Post office. 5 minute walk to the local Upton Cross shop to get your morning newspaper etc.

We also have four other pubs in the local area which serve good food and drinks they are all approximately 2 min drive away or a short walk.

Cheesewring Hotel & Pub. This is located in the heart of minions which is a small village situated high up on Bodmin moor in South East Cornwall the village is over 300m above sea level and it is therefore the highest village in Cornwall, which also have the famous hurlers and cheese wring stones.

The Manor House Inn. Located in the heart of Rilla Mill.

Wheal Tor. Wheal Tor is a freehold licensed premise and is the highest inn in Cornwall nestling 996ft high atop Caradon Hill a truly stunning location with some of the best views in Cornwall.

Crows Nest Inn. Located in the heart of Crows Nest village.

There is a small friendly bistro style restaurant located in the market town of Liskeard called Tapenades. Everything is cooked to order and they are happy to change things to suit. More of a special occasion place to go. It can get busy so booking is advisable.

1. - Head West on A30

2. - Take the exit Signposted Launceston 0.2 miles

3. - At the roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto B3254 heading to S Petherwin

4. - Turn left to stay on B3254 8.4 miles

5- Destination will be on the left prior to the Caradon Inn

A38 1- Head West on A38

2-Take the exit signposted Liskeard

3-take 3rd exit at next roundabout (heading over the Bridge)

4-Follow "all routes" signs to by-pass Liskeard - staying on the A390 until Callington Road

5-take the first exit left at the roundabout on to Callington Rd

6- take the second exit at roundabout heading to St Cleer - stay on the B3254 for 5.4 miles.

7-We are located on the right just after the Caradon Inn pub.
