What was great?
This is a very well run site, the owners, Peter and Catherine keep a very large site in first class condition without employing additional staff. I am amazed at how they manage. If you are a dog owner 100 yds (or meters if you prefer) away is the river Ouse and the Naburn Lock (which is at the tidal point of the river) and is a very pleasant walk - though can be muddy if it is wet. The 'cycle track' about half a mile away is on the old York to Selby rail line and is an interesting walk - especially if you cross the river bridge. The bus service (hourly) to York centre is very convenient.

Even better if....
The only criticism of this site (and of many other sites) is the annoying showers which automatically cut off every 10 seconds - but the water is very hot. The washing up point (3 sinks) is outside and is a little crafty in cold windy weather. BUT I wouldn't let these points stop me using this site.

What was great?
We have stayed on this site a number of times and its great here. As you drive onto the site from the country lane you are met at the reception by the friendly staff. They direct you onto the site and show you your plot by cycling in front of you. There are three main areas to the site, the adult only park, the main park and a large field to the left of reception. Once on the site you can see that it is kept to a nice standard with flowers planted, maturing trees and the grass cut regularly. There is a small shop on site if you require items you may have forgotten. The toilets and showers are kept clean and tidy and looked to be checked on a regular basis. This is a great base for York, Selby and the east coast.

What was great?
Site has a mix of hard standing and Grass pitches each Hedged off area had its own water/waste and bin with recycling. Well stocked shop and very friendly staff. Toilets were really clean and plenty of showers/toilets for size of park. Good dog walking area to the back of the park and access to river and locks for walks. Chip van visits on Saturday Site was quiet and very friendly tourers. Almost walking distance for Designer outlet but bus service is needed. Water Taxi at weekend into York. (didn't get a chance to sample it)

Even better if....
There was no play park for the children and no area for ball games. Be quick at chip van as it runs out when site is busy.

Plenty of room for the kids to play in including a large field to the left of reception. Some great woods and the canal just a minutes walk away

This site provides for dogs as well as there owners. There is plenty of walks just off the camp and the canal and river are just a minute away fro some great walks along the tow path

There are a couple of pubs in the local village. If you turn left out of the camp and travel about a mile there is a great one which is on the left. Looks like a local pub for local people but it is welcoming and serves a good pint and has a large choice of bar meals at a reasonable price. If you want to earn you lunch then walk down the tow path to it.

Well what can you say. this is the place to go walking along the river or canal which has a tow path so is even and not too bumpy. You can even catch the boat into you from here in the summer months so some great walking around the city of York with its great history. Many many hours can be spent here at the Jorvic centre, Clifford Tower, Train museum , walking the walls and the list goes on.
