Question: Distances between Caravans or Tents

We have just been on a touring site and they allowed tents on that could not pitch on the hard standing so pitched on the awning grassed area which was only one foot from our caravan. Besides being a fire hazard everything that was said and done in the tent could be heard by us.
What is the legal distance that there should be between either caravans or tents and where is it written and who should enforce this?

Your thoughts please

hi Darren ,
I don't know the legalities of distances between pitches but the rule of thumb appears to be a gap of 3 - 6 metres between.

this is an extract from the caravan and camping club policies,

d It is a requirement that the unit (along with any ancillary equipment) fits within the confines of the pitch whilst maintaining the 6m rule. If this cannot be achieved the Customer may be required to purchase an additional pitch (if available) or remove the ancillary equipment.

a full list of which can be found here

I guess each site outside of the club networks, have their own policies

Thanks Peter it seems its a rule that sites can make up as they go along if they are not CC or CaCC. Posted by Darren England on 07 Aug 2013

Michael thank you for that. All the other sites we have been on seem to stick to the 6 metre rule strictly. Thought it was a fire precaution myself. Posted by Darren England on 07 Aug 2013
