Campsites for Detectorists

Campsites for Detectorists

These pages are for those detectorists out there who also like to camp or tour: a listing of UK campsites for detectorists, allowing those who stay on their site to detect on the campsite itself. Now, hold your horses... it's no good detecting in the reception area, the flower pots outside the toilet block or on the pitches themselves. Each one of these campsites, being vastly different in their geography and topography, as well as being different in their on-site 'culture' have specific guidance about where exactly you can detect. The best advice, as always, is to make yourself known to the campsite owner when booking and on arrival and to ask for instructions on detecting-etiqutte for that particular site. For those of you hoping to induct the kids or grandchildren into the art of detecting, there are sites which have specified a limited area for detecting. Others, though, will satisfy the itch of the most avid detectorist, with some of the farm campsites listed here permitting activity on all 60 acres of their land...that's hours of potential detecting if you can get away without complaints from the detectorist 'widows and widowers' in your camping party!

So, these really are metal detecting sites, sites where you can pitch up, cook, shower, socialise and generally relax and unwind but with the opportunity to explore the subterranean geography as well as the one above ground. Delve into the history of the area you are staying in.

Read through each site's listing for details of the facilities they offer. Use the 'Things to do' tab on each individual site listing to find details of the other attractions, shops and eateries in the local vicinity of the campsite. (If you want to learn more about the history of the area, the local museums are listed too, included directions on how to get there.)
