Campsites near Rock Climbing Kent

For those living further south, looking to build-their-own climbing camping weekend or week break, there are thankfully some outcrops of sandstone rock around Tunbridge Wells which mean that Kent and Sussex climbers don't have to travel hundreds of miles to rub their itch! Of course, you'll already know the dos and don'ts of climbing sandstone without destroying its surface ;) or at least you'll find out before you go...We haven't covered all of Kent's climbing venues here. Those looking for Camping Spots near Kent's climbing vital statistics should find a campsite to suit their needs on these pages.

Harrison's Rocks offer hundreds of sandstone climbs and hundreds of climbers from across Kent visit here, creating quite a climbing buzz! There is some damage to the easier routes, which are popular with groups of climbers, so there is a strict etiquette of no leading, and of wearing clean, soft-soled climbing shoes to preserve the rock faces. There are facilities here - a toilet and a car park - to make life a little easier!

Bulls Hollow Rocks offer over 70 climbing routes on sandstone crags of up to 8m in height. Again, etiquette required to keep the rock faces from unnecessary further erosion.

High Rocks is a designated SSSI and is owned by The High Rocks, a wedding venue, restuatant and country house - not your usual rock climbing location! Access to the sandstone crags here will cost you £10 and tickets must be obtained from the lower bar, before you enter the rock area - this is essential, if climbers are to continue to have access to the great climbing available here.

Bowles Rocks are owned by Bowles Outdoor Pursuits Centre and there is a small charge of £4 for adults before 5pm, £3 after 5pm and £2 for youngsters, the monies going towards the upkeep of the rocks and toilet facilities. There are a number of good climbs here on the sandstone crag, of up to 10m including The Thing; Digitalis and Fandango.
