Adult Only Campsites and Adult Only Caravan Sites

Littlies, youngsters, striplings, rug rats, ankle biters...It's not that we don't like them per se (although some of us may consider ourselves more allergic than others). And we're certainly not denying that camping with kids can be a truly wonderful experience: a fabulous family bonding adventure, a broadener of a small's imagination.

Let's face it, though, kids tend to enjoy the wrong end of the day. While some adults are happy, yes, to rise with the sparrow's cheep, they are often the type of folk who want to head for the hills, making the most of the daylight hours to pursue whatever makes them tick and feel fulfilled - and to be clear, that's largely adult stuff isn't it? The rest of us? Well, if we had a choice it would be stirring at a respectable 8:30am, rather than enduring a 5.56am summons, partaking of a laid back breakfast and leisurely digestion with a long-covetted book rather than being catapulted into a painfully early game of 'It'. We'd opt for a long, contemplative shower rather than a wrestle to keep piles of small clothing off a wet floor and shampoo out of sensitive eyes. We would, we really would...

It's OK to say it: "Adults only camping for me, please!"

Adult Only Camping in Devon

Devon is a huge county and, although it is admittedly a haven for families during the high season, there's plenty of open space to share round. In off-peak seasons campsites are much quieter, of course, but there are some fabulous Adult Only Campsites Devon available across the county should you want to take advantage of peak season weather without compromising on the tranquility and privacy.

For those in the throes of youth, as yet blissfully unaware of the tyranny of early starts and constant questioning, or for those longing to get away from being rudely awoken every single morning with a spiky plastic T-Rex balanced on their nose, a stay at Hedgehog Corner Exclusive Camping in East Devon is a perfect choice. The site limits the number of tents to just 10 and camping parties to 2 people, so it's easy to find a secluded and spacious pitch in their camping meadow. Each pitch is accompanied by its own picnic table, so alfresco meals can be taken at a sophisticated angle. The showers are hot and plentiful - no queues! - and there are camping kitchens for cooking up a storm and fridges and freezers for storing your foodie essentials and chilling a bottle, should you be planning to get inspired.

And you may well find that food becomes a theme of your stay: the local eateries include celebrated fish restaurants and most notably the River Cottage canteen and store just a short drive away.

Adult Only Campsites Cornwall

Similar to Devon in its popularity with families, camping on a Cornish campsite during high season can be energetic to say the least! But there is a selection of available Adult Only Campsites Cornwall. Whether you're an empty-nester whose done family camping with knobs on or a couple who have managed to palm the kids off on the grandparents (god bless them, sniff) for a long weekend, it's entirely possible to enjoy peaceful high season camping and touring in Cornwall.

Think traditional Cornish charm: castles, golden sandy bays, cobbled streets lined with galleries and independent shops and eateries showcasing locally caught, grown and produced foods.

Stay at Wayfarers Caravan Park just a short drive from Penzance and even closer to the charm of Marazion's sea front, the grandeur of St Michael's Mount and the golden beach of Praa Sands, and you've got the perfect package.

Reviewers agree that this friendly adults-only campsite and touring park is never less than top notch. The beautiful grounds are as immaculately kept as a private garden; the pitches are level, very generously sized and afforded plenty of privacy by the Cornish hedges separating them. There's no bar on site, so the evenings can be as tranquil as you'd like to make them but those who do want to socialise don't need to travel far: there are two good pubs within a short walk of the site.
