What was great?
This campsite has excellent facilities and you get a pitch that can be completely separate from other people therefore gives you a feel of a wild camp! The site is covered in trees and streams and even sheep sometimes. This Airbnb place was the worst experience I and my family have ever experienced. 1. Arrogant and rude landlady became aggressive. 2. Dirty place with mould. 3. Bullied my 2.5 years old son!!! I found the place literally dirty. Small dirts over the floor, sofas, kitchen worktop, drawers. There was even the mould in the cupboards and a funny smell in the property. I went to look for a landlady named Sarah. I rang the doorbell and when lady came out I said “Hello” and asked her if she is the landlady. Her answer was with arrogant and raised voice "Yes, I am". Then, I explained her nicely that the caravan is not very clean. She said that it was cleaned by her the day before. We went to see it. Her reaction was "It's clean". When I told her that I'd like somebody to clean it, even though, we can wait she said "What do you expect this is a farm and if you don't like it you can leave. I told her that I'll contact Airbnb for an advice. The representative asked me to send the pictures and as it was 7:30pm I was told that for this night we had to stay there!!! Just when I finished the call, (I wanted to hoover and clean the place) landlady appeared and asked if we are staying. I told her that Airbnb said that we have to stay for this night. She became angry and said: "No, you are not going to stay here for 1 night! I don't do 1 night stays." Then she spotted my 2.5 years old child playing with some scrap metal outside the caravan and said "He is out of the control", she came to him pulled that thing from his hands still with almost shouting voice! Then, the landlady started to use not very pleasant language and told us to leave. Obviously, my son started to cry and was upset for a long time as he's never experienced something like this. As this was a farm where no other farms or houses were by it was dangerous to stay there from now. I wanted to call a police but couldn't make a call as the signal was intermittent. Somehow, I managed to contact Airbnb again and the agent told me that the first agent didn't know what he was talking about... He said to leave and find something else and if they find that the place was dirty they'll issue me a refund!!! - The mould is a big safety issue as one of us has asthma and another one is 2.5 y.o. child. - The beds were messy and one bed sheet was still hanging outside. - Even before check in the landlady didn’t reply to my messages, so I’m not sure why her response time is 1 hour! - The landlady didn’t welcome us and when met her we didn’t feel welcomed at all! - I can’t imagine what average clean person would be happy to stay in accommodation like this when just cleanness is considered.

In 35+ years camping under canvas and in caravans, this was the noisiest site we've ever been on. When we complained to reception they told us they'd sort matters out. Later in the day we got a knock on the caravan door from a man asking if we'd like to move pitch pitch. Who was he? The site manager? The site warden? No he was an assistant groundsman who'd been sent to sort matters out. This just about sums Black Beck's customer service up. You are warned & think carefully about booking a pitch here. We definitely wont be returning.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! My parents and I were relaxing in their caravan when someone knocked HARD on the window, making us all jump. Then we were greeted by a very unpleasant lady who accused my 70 year old father of driving too fast through the campsite. However, my father hadn’t used the car for at least an hour and when I asked her if she’s sure it was us, she said it’s the only Kia Sportage on the sight. She then stormed off leaving us baffled, so my Father went to the office to clarify the situation and she then asked him to leave the campsite. My Father obviously refused and left the office. Then her Husband followed him to the caravan telling us to leave and at this point I was in complete disbelief. My Mum and Dad are the loviest people and wouldn’t harm a fly. So we told the man we’re not leaving and then his wife turned up asking for all four caravans to leave (as we are a group) otherwise they will call the police, so we had to leave. I have never in my life experienced such horrible people and my poor Mum was left in tears. Then as we left the campsite we spotted two other Kia Sportage’s in a similar colour! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

Onsite restaurant was good and reasonably priced and catered for Coeliacs.

Even better if....
Didn't lie about agreeing to allow my son to sleep in his tent outside our camper. We were charged double for 2 nights and therefore forced to end holiday early to avoid further double charging. Also charged my wife another £15 on top as punishment before they would allow us to leave the security gated site. The stay cost us £115 for 2 nights. Disgraceful. We tolerated the scruffy site and closely pitched plots as we needed a site near Rutland Water but any site is better than this.

We arrived Friday evening in our 7.5 meter Moho and pulled into the drive next to the camp site, we retrieved the envelope from the inside of the porch door which told us what to pay etc and inside was a photocopied sheet with all of the rules on, seemed a little excessive, I checked the envelope for any sign of where we had been allocated but nothing so we pitched up at the top of the field. I figured from the conversation I had with Mr Makepiece on the phone when I booked that we were unlikely to see him during our stay. Anyway filled up with water on Friday evening and had a very pleasant evening. Went out for the day on Saturday and of course it rained however we had a lovely day. Went back to the campsite Saturday evening, filled up with water, went to reverse and we were stuck. After trying everything possible to no avail, I called Mr Makepiece at 7.30 pm, he was very abrupt and happy to lecture me on the fact we had driven on to the wettest part of the field and how if we had used the other water filling point this wouldn't have happened (we didn'teven know there was another water point, he went on to say that we should have stayed at our allocated pitch (which we were not given), he eventually told me that he would ask his son to get us out in the morning but it wouldn't be early. We had no choice but to hope that his son would arrive to drag us out in the morning as we heard nothing from him until my husband telephoned him again at 9.30 Sunday morning to ask if he knew when his son would be with us, my husband was told bluntly between now and 10 o clock. Mr Makepiece and his son arrived shortly after. We were again told that we had gone to the wettest part of the field but we didn't seen to be heard when we said we had never been told to avoid that part of the filed. In fact we had only been given rules and regulations rather than any helpful advice. Had we not got stuck in the mud then I would have given this 4 stars as the site is lovely and quiet, very reasonably priced but I would have expected to either be greeted by the owners or see them at some point over the weekend just as a polite and friendly gesture. There needs to be polite helpful/useful advice rather than just a list of does and dont's, there also needs to be a hard standing at the water point so thus doesn't happen again.

Nice little camp site great location for monmouth Town center , long week in work looking forward to a weekend away first night ruined . Site allows bbqs I cooked 4 burgers and a couple of sausages. That was not welcomed my van was put next to the owners house a window was opened and told me my bbq was making tomuch smoke. I'm now expert on bbq s but it's a normal bbq from asda . I assume it was designed to operate normally I'm 43 years old with my wife quiet people . I'm annoyed I feel like I can't have another bbq now oh well Answer might be say no bbq before booking or don't pack pitches in so tight there against the house Ps I asked if bbqs are aloud at booking and was told yes

Truly awful. Terrible customer service. The worst I have ever experienced anywhere. I called them today to ask a question about a narrow boat and as I was asking, the following was said to me - " you said this would be a quick question, this aint the ten fucking commandments mate" then the phone was put down on me. Never experienced anything like it. If you want your day ruined give them a quick call.

What was great?
The best thing about this site is the absolute silence. Don't bother coming here if you looking for a 'commercial kick'. This is a rough diamond and should stay this way. It's a delight for nature lovers with deer, hedgehogs and owls as frequent visitors. The forest is lovely and a treat for dog walkers. We have returned over and over and are never disappointed. The café serves delicious meals and the stately home and gardens are well worth a visit. Don't forget to taste the ice cream, it's well worth it.

Even better if....
Don't change anything please. Ablution blocks would only spoil the character. The toilette block at the shop serves quite well for the needs of visitors to the café.

ever thing. kids play safe good walks for dogs.lovely pubs nearby .2mis walk to the river. clean site very friendly staff.just a very friendly site.cheap too.made some lovely friends there. like a 2nd family.we are all trying to tidy the site up, park looking great. the grass is cut every week.showers are hot and clean too, toilets clean. this augs bank holiday we had a visit from Santa the kids loved it. as did the mums and dad's great fun day.

The staff and owner really need to work on their customer service skills. We were a family with young children just wanting to enjoy a quiet bank holiday weekend. We were told where to pitch our tent, which was literally on the opposite side of the campsite to our family whom we had come to spend time with, even though we had asked to be close by. We were shouted at for parking our car in the wrong place, even though a polite request to move it would have been good enough. There were a few further incidents with the warden and when I tried to say we actually weren't doing anything to warrant being treated that way, I was told to drop my attitude or he would kick me off the site there and then. When we spoke to other campers about our experience it turned out we weren't the only ones! Very unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone as they have ruined what could have been a lovely weekend

Large car park situated on the A35. This can be a busy road but quiet enough for an overnight stop. Good selection of food, well prepared. I would recommend that you park towards the rear of the car park, as I remember that the school bus uses the car park as a pickup point. Please remember to notify the staff in advance of your stay.

Our visit started with a check in to reception and there is plenty of parking in this area along with the recycling bins. The welcome was warm and friendly and we were shown to our XL pitch which had an electric hook up and access to a tap which was fine to use as drinking water. A heads up if you are going that the taps not suitable to drink from have signs on them so if you see one without anything ... go ahead and use it. The pitch size was very generous as we had plenty of room for our Padstow 500, awning, gazebo, and windbreaker. We had our own little slice of paradise for a week. It took us a little time to set up so we were now really able to have a proper look around the site to get set up because we brought the kitchen sink with us literally. There is a mix of caravans tourers, camper vans, tents, and holiday homes spread across the site so it has a mixture of people and vibe to it. We were on pitch 22 which is one the two extra large pitches adjacent to the pool and had some shade provided by the massive pine trees which helped when it got up to 28 degrees. I spent a lot of my time listening and watching the wood pigeons which appeared to be the fattest and birds I have ever seen! We were able to access the loos, showers, and outside pool within two minutes walk so the location of the pitch was fab for us. The club house is closed this summer due to the new owners needing to get their Alcohol licence and getting to grips with the running of the site. There are a lot of repeat guests and some were disappointed that it wasn't open. But for us this was a blessing as we prefer a quiet chilled site and as the club house is next to pitch 22 and 23 would have disturbed us at night! The outside pool is bigger than it looks on the photos and is a nice shape so that one group of people can not totally take over the pool. This was cleaned every morning before opening at nine and closed promptly at seven pm. We were told that the indoor pool was closed and not available for use but as it was so hot we wouldn't have wanted to use it anyway. The outdoor pool was so nice and a good temperature we felt spoilt. If you want to use the sauna which is next to the showers and clubhouse kitchen it operates off old pound coins so needs to be converted to a new coin operation unit. The showers always had lots of hot water and we didnt have to wait once to shower despite it being the beginning of August. Staff came round and checked on us and how we were doing and I know if we needed anything they would have done their best to do whatever needed. The setting of the site is in the middle of nowhere so it truly feels like an escape and somewhere you can breath. Pitch 22 is towards the bottom of the site so our washing up facility is in the clubhouse kitchen which is open and there is a small fridge in there but no freezer which would be handy to have to put ice blocks in..... maybe something they can get for next year? There is a fridge and freezer up at the launderette which is at the same level of the site where the glamping pods are and not a realistic place to easily get to up the hill carrying your washing up/food unless you take your car. We managed so it wasnt a biggie! There is wifi but it is chargeable and I think quite expensive so for the price of the pitch per night I would expect to have had access to free wifi because staff and owners must know that the phone signal is none existant... again something easily rectified. I am with o2 and had no phone reception on our pitch which was both a blessing and a problem. If you go to the top of the site and at reception you do get it. They need more bins across the site and possibly another recycling centre towards the lower end of the site. We found ourselves having to hoard our rubish which wasnt pleasant with the amount of wasps around because of the heat and then making a trip to reception where we dropped it off. There is a large Sainsburys less than ten minutes drive away which is on a retail park which also had a McDonalds, The Range, M&S Food Hall, Pets at Home, Argos, KFC, Next Home (Longwater Retail Park). Again I cant stress enough how clean and well maintained the site was and the friendliness of the staff. We wouldnt hestitate to return if we are ever in Norfolk again.!

Adding a freezer to the clubhouse kitchen for use of campers at the lower part of the site, free wifi, more bins/recycling facilities.

What was great?
The weather was excellent, plenty of space and a very relaxed regime on site. Peaceful with clean toilets and showers. Disposal facilities for waste. No EHU and I was informed that TV reception was possible. Mobile reception was good. No midges on this visit. Plenty of forest walking for our dog. River runs nearby. Scenic area. No booking required, just arrive and camp. Only £10 per night.

Shorter forest road to site.

What was great?
This site is great, from the moment you arrive with the view and assistance you get straight away from the owners. If you are not great at manicuring the caravan then they will assist you by hooking it up to their land rover and parking it for you. The site is on a slope but the owner chocks and levels the van for you in minutes. Plenty of space between vans with room for the biggest awnings.. Clean and tidy facilities if a little small and not many of them for the amount of people, tents, vans etc. What you do get is a cracking view over the bay which is one of the best in the country.

The facilities desperately need a refurb, or at least a good clean! The owners are rude, will tell you where to park (to the exact angle), how to park, will refuse to allow you to pitch next to people you know despite surrounding pitches being empty (exact words were "this is where I've told you to go and this is where you will stay"!) and will watch you regularly, even when using the facilities!!!! It's also very pricey at £64 for 2 nights with no awning, no hard standing, thing you would usually pay extra for.

What was great?
Great space on the pitch enough for van awanong and car at side of each other, electric, water and waste to the side of each pitch. Not cramped at all Washing and toilet block clean and tidy all the time. Hot water for showers if not a little too hot sometimes. In with the price is swimming and entertainment

Even better if....
Don’t let tents on van pitches as three families took over two pitches with three tents, three gazebos and 7 children and parked their cars in others pitches way. Then proceeded to play load music; scream and shout till 2 in the morning. Even when staff drove by a couple of times nothing was said. Staff need to be more customer friendly No beach acces for 6 Miles is what they said

Great small little site with about 5 plots for tourers or motorhomes. Nice touch inbthe small toilet and shower block with free towels in a warm clean environment. Private ish with large trees on site and plenary of room between each unit. Re cycling bins provided to the rear of toilet block. Fuel station over the road with a large supermarket area. Also has a Subway if you can’t be bothered to cook. A number of pubs in the local area with 2 mins drive or 15 mins walk. People use this site when they purchase a van or motor home from Wanderhome next door as a try to make sure it works.

Even better if....
Close to main road and lots of road noise.

Location. 2 minutes and you were on the amazing Belhaven Beach and the John Muir Walkway. Toilets and showers were spotless, playparks diverse, kitchen facilities were a bonus and kept spotless.

Even better if....
It was cheaper. £29 a night was a bit steep.

Plenty of space as this is at the side of a working farm. It has fields around three sides with views of open countryside. Toilets are clean and warm as are the showers which are all in one convineant place.. They appear to have a couple of small cabins on site which I assume they rent out.

Level hardstanding adjacent to the Inn, excellent food at reasonable prices. Friendly people. Not too far from a beautiful sandy beach. On the NC500 and open all year.

Well secluded naturist campsite Space for a couple of caravans,mobile homes and tents with electric hookups. Basic in nature but shower block is well appointed and showers run well and are hot. There is a bar and a swimming pool. About 20 minutes walkaway is the unofficial naturist beach and about a 10 minute car trip to the nearest shops/pubs.It was a bit soggy during our stay in August but was so pleasant. Would recommend this site to those who want a peaceful. Hopefully we will return again in the near future

What was great?
Good layout and facilities. When using this site you can use the facilities of there other site 2 miles away which include kids club, swimming, club house and restaurant. The people we where with went over for a swim and said it was a great facility.

Even better if....
Checking out at 10am is a bit early even more if you have kids and an awning to deal with. You can get an extention to your stay if your pitch is not booked on that day for half the pitch price. A 12 noon checkout would help.

What was great?
A secluded area of pitching, in woodland. Reasonably level pitching. Peaceful ( a little road noise ). No rowdy neighbours. On a nice day it would be a lovely place to be. Dont let me put you off - it is a lovely site. all hardstanding. No Toilet Block.

Even better if....
It wasnt raining. Ground around site was marshy. Dog walk was better.

I always camp in my tent with my dog n this site is ideal! Very dog friendly,very clean n tidy, lovely owners,just a really nice nice no hassle camp site and the views are spectacular (sea and mountains). Beautiful beach and sand dunes just minutes.s away driving, cycling and walking...Town petrol station and local shops very close by. Showers are £0.50 for women and £1.00 for men (don;t know why?) but they're good showers. You pay at the farmhouse and prices are very reasonable. No charge for dogs.

Even better if....
There were more hooks in the shower and by the sinks. It really would make things a lot easier.

The relaxed atmosphere, no hassle. Perched on the edge of the shore about 2 metres above the beach, with unrestricted views out to sea. We were unlucky with the weather as it was very windy with some serious showers, the sea was getting whipped up and plenty of real waves rolling in. We loved it. Our dog loved the beach. The facilities were kept immaculate. Worth a visit.

Even better if....
The weather was kinder.

What was great?
We enjoyed the trip all 140miles from Stirling, We were allocated a seaview pitch looking out into the bay. The sandy beach was clean and plentiful. A twenty minute "stroll" to Carradale village with its Harbour and views to Arran. There is a shop with most need in the village. Two eating places. Plenty of walking and doggies will love this place. The facilities on site are spotlessly clean and modern inside.

Even better if....
If the road into the site was shorter, not so many potholes and mud. The weather was a bit drier.

Level pitching, friendly wardens, Clean facilities, Plenty of places for walking with our dog, Good places to eat in Jedburgh, Places to visit of historical interest. Just a very nice place to be.

The on site facilities are very tired and could do with a makeover. The streams and pools around the site were clogged of weeds and oily, certainly not dog friendly. Cleanliness will have to be improved, a pair of nickers were left on the side of the road for the time we were there, obviously litter pickers didn'the have underwear on the list

Have stayed here in the past but what a change for the worse, arrived no one to meet us, had to walk all over the farm before we found someone who had no interest in helping us, eventually we found the owner, the pitches (if that's what you call them) were a mess no boundary lines so you couldn't tell where you should and shouldn't be, young trees had been hit and just left hanging over no support given so will obviously die. Spoke to the farmer who said they want to give it up but they had no problem charging me more than that was advertised and when challenged they said the price has gone up, Would I recommend this site.. NO, will I go back.. NO. The owners dogs allowed to roam free and defecate without it being picked up,

What was great?
Easy access, very clean site, clean and well looked after toilet and shower block. Flat grassed areas sheltered by trees or hedgerow. Very charming fishing lake for the pleasure angler with good stock of carp (all sizes). The pub at the entry point to the site has fabulous food (service a tad slow but the food makes up for it). Excellent ales and good selection of wines too. With the passing boat traffic combined with 'campers' then the atmosphere was very good with very friendly and efficient staff.

...the pub stocked Quarter Cask Laphroaig!!! Perhaps some fire bricks made available?

Very welcoming people at the site. Family run site with everyone making us feel part of the family. Were there for a Caribbean style weekend, and had a pitch right next to the swimming pool. There is no strangers there, just friends from all over you are about to meet. Very good facilities, and very relaxed atmosphere. Can't wait till we get a chance to return

The owners of the campsite happily letting us stay in a pre erected tee pee after the Wind ripped our tent down before being anchored sufficiently ...saving a stranded father and son. Friendly helpful staff, facilities plentiful and cleaned nightly. Closest campsite to mountain railway, that I saw anyway. Great access to other surrounding attractions. Will happily stay again ..and I won't be bringing my tent:) i dont have a dog btw

As a life long camper and scout leader it is always great to find a new gem of a place to stay. The Secret Campsite is one of those amazing gems. The only pre-requisite my son had for his birthday camping trip was that we had to have a "proper caveman fire to cook on!" Its not so easy to find a campsite these days that allows open fires for reasonable safety reasons - however Tim and the gang at the Secret Campsite avoid this by giving everyone acres of space almost literally!!! We cooked every meal on the open fire and it was wonderful. From the moment we arrived and Tim came bounding out to greet us, get to know our names including the three excited young boys in the back and then send us off to explore the site and decide where we wanted to pitch to the moment we left having met the sheep, we had a wonderful time both on site and exploring the local cycle tracks and pubs. Tim remembered our names from the very first meeting which is always a lovely touch but I won’t let on to how he does it - that’s another secret. I cannot recommend this place enough - but please don't tell anyone - its a secret for a reason.

Weather was ace which always helped, but the warm welcome from Tim, plus the beautiful scenery, peacefulness and proximity to coast all make for a superb break (kids loved it)

The relaxed atmosphere compared to some other club sites. Nice coastal walks direct from the site. Excellent showers and spotless facilities. Local pub with good food. Nice place to sit and look out over the bay.

It looked good, and that was it.. Down a country lane, close to a dog kennel site, ..very hard to get into, NO SECURITY, NO BARRIERS, NO CCTV . NO MEMBERS OF STAFF ON SITE. BE WARNED THIS IS A WORKING BUILDING SITE, NOT GOOD FOR CHILDREN OR DIGS, metal spiikes and tubing sticking out of the floor, A MAJOR HEALTH AND SAFETY RISK. THIS IS NOT A REGISTERED CAMPING AND CARAVANNING SITE, REVIEWS ON FACEBOOK ARE FROM FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

CHECKED OUT BY THE HEALTH AND SAFETY , THE FIRE BRIGADE, FYLDE COUNCIL AWARE OF PERMENANT PEOPLE LIVING ON THE SITE, .claiming benefits but not living on the site.

My colleague and I both tried to ring the site today and had an individually awful experiences. They took a very long time answering the phone and when I finally got through the woman was incredibly rude and unhelpful. It's almost as if they don't want paying customers! Totally clueless about availability and location, slammed the phone down on BOTH of us for NO reason. I am not someone that goes out of their way to write horrible reviews but I have no idea how this site is still in business with such poor customer service. If you do want to stay here make sure you're prepared for a verbal beating when you call up to book!

We never managed to even book there. We sent an e-mail and received a response saying call at breakfast or in the evening. We tried for three days leaving messages and e- mails but had no response. We needed to book a campsite so had to book elsewhere. When they did return our calls, four days later, they put the telephone down on us before we could explain why we had booked elsewhere. Rude and unprofessional. Do not even consider going there.

They returned calls or e-mails on the same day!

clean touring site with great amenities,specially for children. lovely sandy beach with easy access onsite.all touring pitch's are euro and fully serviced. pitch sizes are very big,but are on slightly sloping ground. staff were very helpful with local area knowledge and site management.
