Food Festivals UK

A caravanner's or motorhomer's meals aren't always fast and easy. Every now and then, we all need a little something to titillate those taste buds. Come in the many food festivals UK-based and with worldly access that are all the rage with the connoisseurs! Both the foodie behind the wheel and those riding in the caravan will be happy to hear that, when it comes to food festivals UK has something for everyone.

Let's start our journey in the South of the country with the VegFest UK festival. Now held at the Brighton Centre, next to the famous rocky local beach, the event will be held over the weekend of March 11 and 12, 2017. Bargains will be had, as will eclairs and other delicacies you wouldn't normally expect to see at a festival for the health conscious. As though 160 stalls, 12 caterers and 3 licenced bars weren't enough, the event will also be featuring the Vegan Comedy Festival. For only £5 a ticket, this is your chance to chew, chuckle and then carry on caravanning your way through British food festivals.

A caravanning/motorhome foodie is only as devoted to the cause as his itinerary is riddled with UK food festivals. If your planned route isn't all that exciting, then the Lancaster Food and Drink Festival may have something in store for you for the Bank Holiday Weekend. Lancaster Leisure Park is smack bang in the middle of the country, and it already features a farm shop, a brewery, a restaurant and an antiques centre. Add a free-entry, free-sampling and free-parking food festival featuring the quaternity of gastronomy - meats, breads, cheeses and wines -, and you're likely to never want to leave. But if you do, the Glen Tarn Caravan Park is within walking distance.

But fear not, The Dales Festival of Food and Drink is only 60 miles away! Held on the third weekend in June, this yearly Yorkshire fiesta brings you brass bands, local artisans, celebrity talks, cooking workshops, a funfair, a bungee trampoline, and all the crepes you can eat.

What more could you want, especially when you know there are myriads more food festivals UK organisers have set up in the area? Like the Distinctly Delicious Darlington Festival of Food taking place on May 13, 2017, only 30 miles north-east, showcasing the best that British food festivals can boast of in the North East. The only Locomotion Cake Parade in the world, chef and mixology demonstrations, tasting programmes, an award ceremony and the Tunaversity Chalenge game show will be waiting to entertain you as you satisfy your sweet tooth.

Since you're in the area, it wouldn't hurt to familiarise yourself with the surroundings, so that you know your route when June 30 comes. That's when the North East Chilli Festival hits the small seaside town of Seaton Sluice. If ever there was a time and a place to bring your sombrero, this is it. Delaval Hall promises cabaret, disco, stand-up comedy, street food and on-site camping to honour the eye-watering, uk food festivals show-stopping, palate pulverising phenomenon that is good chilli.

Another unmissable event is the Newcastle Vegan Festival held on June 10. As any Geordie will tell you, this is the best place to sample some scrumptious treats, whether you're vegan, vegetarian or omnivore. For the price of a ticket, which is £2, you get an intro into what it means to use cruelty-free make-up, wear ethically sourced clothing, eat organic food and enjoy cheese-free 'cheesecake' and cream-free 'cream cupcakes', among others.

Of course, if you happen to be in the area, the one-day food feast that is the Taste of Grampian in Inverurie, Scotland, held on June 3, will not disappoint. Children go free, and adults pay only £5 for a 7-hour chef demonstration from the likes of celebrities like The Incredible Spicemen, Kevin Love and Lady Claire MacDonald OBE. Musicians, magicians and dancers will be there to entertain as you enjoy the wine tasting and the car watching in the motor show area. There's loads of space for caravanners on the grounds.

If you do your caravanning in Northern Ireland, then the Irish Game Fair & Fine Food Festival at Shanes Castle is the place to be on June 24. From brown eel to wild boar, all manner of Cumbrian delicacy will be on display at this most historic of all the food festivals UK caravanners can enjoy over the summer. The Public Campsite is there to accommodate you throughout, free of charge and without prior booking.
