Nostalgia with Mod Cons: UK Holiday Parks

If you're looking for lashings of Nostalgia with all the mod cons, why not book a stay at a UK Holiday Park?

Technology, speed and efficiency: sometimes it feels like we’re living in a whirlwind of ‘new’. And while we enjoy the instant nature of much of our lives, there’s always a part of ourselves looking back over our shoulders at what used to be, especially, according to research into current UK trends in behavior, when it comes to our holidays. Nostalgia – rockpooling, sand castles and surfing; fish and chips wrapped in paper followed by home-made ice-cream; ball games until the shadows lengthen and the sun falls behind the hills – is big business. And no wonder. When it comes to kicking back and relaxing, we look to our own memories of family holidays and want to resurrect the best bits. That’s my excuse, anyway, for guzzling down at least two ice-creams a day and heading for the rockpools whenever I get to a beach.

More often than not placed a blessedly short distance from the beach, with great views over sweeping bays from majestic headlands and access to the local coastal paths, these UK holiday parks make fabulous bases for enjoying the ‘beach zone’, where even the most tearaway kids are calmed by the rhythm of the sea and the expanse of space. Ah…chill! And, back at the Park there’ll be loads to do, with pool dips, golf-rounds, kids clubs, live entertainment and (if you can wangle it) a cheeky spa session or two. Remember, you don't have to stay in a lodge or static caravan - have you considered camping or touring at a holiday park? That way you can enjoy the back-to-basics, closer-to-nature experience of camping with access to all the great facilities provided on site?

These Holidays Parks in Cornwall come in many shapes and sizes and, with Cornwall being one big peninsula, you'll never be far from a fantastic beach, in fact many of these sites are leaning over the sand! Whether you've never been to Cornwall before or you are a serial returner, this Queen of Counties will leave you with memories of azure skies, golden light and a captivating coastline. Use our 'refine search' facility to filter the results and identify the ideal site for you and your family.

These Holiday Parks in Devon leave smiles on the faces of thousands of visiting families each year. With access to the astonishing open spaces of Dartmoor and Exmoor and to the varied North and South Devon coastlines in this jewel of a county, you'll be living off the memories for years.

Holiday Parks are firmly rooted in the fabric of our great nation’s cultural history – Carry on Camping, Hi-de-Hi, the 1947 British comedy film Holiday Camp, starring Dame Flora Robson and Charlie Chester. We associate Holiday parks with fun, laughter, with building banks of shared memories. They provide great value, fun holidays in tough financial times, offering locations and experiences where families can re-bond, teens and tweeners can safely socialize and younger kids can be indulged without breaking the bank.

The term ‘Holiday Park’ is definitely generic: there's a holiday park spectrum. These venues come in all shapes and sizes when it comes to locations and facilities. One thing is clear though: depending on what you and your family are looking for, be that an individually owned park or one owned by a well known large UK company, a secluded, relaxing experience or an entertainment-packed whirlwind, you’ll be able to find a site that suits.
