Glamping Devon - Luvvlee!

Born in Yorkshire, bred in Devon I'm an odd mixture of cultural influences. I'm proud to say I can fluctuate fairly bewilderingly between the two accents depending on who I am speaking with. And now that I am well and truly over the discontentment of my youth (when I cursed my parents for living in an idyllic, beautiful backwater with a low crime rate, fabulous climate and rich cultural backdrop and longed instead for London Lights) there isn't a day that goes by when I don't look around at the county I call home and think, "I am so lucky." Smug smiles all round.

In spite of years of exploring, though, both above and beneath the waves, along the coast and across the moors, there's so much more of this great county to explore: there really is no need for anyone to leave Devon at all! And with hundreds of fantastic campsites of every imaginable shape, size and personality, there is a myriad of options for holidays in Devon. So, why not ramble the coastal path, climb the tors, explore the markets, visit historical houses, steep yourself in festivals and follow the myths?

And, Devon being Devon where you are never far from a twist of the alternative, there are any number of different ways to lay your head at the end of a day's discovery. And there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to rough it, lord no. Comfort, cosiness and a spot of quirky glamour can be had at very reasonable prices across the region staying in all manner of structures. Ideal for unwinding, recharging and reconnecting with both loved ones and with nature, glamping in Devon has never been more fun.

Why not stay in a pod? A what? Pods are all the rage, providing neat and cosy accomodation, nestled into the nooks and crannies of fields, hills and coastal climes. More often than not shaped like a bee-hive, these wooden structures will offer cosy, romantic Devon glamping holidays, ideal havens to return to at the end of your days of Devon discovery. If you've imagined yourself striding across a wild flower meadow, beneath a setting sun towards an impressive tent, which you have neither had to erect nor will you have to pack away, then a bell tent holiday might just fit the bill. Pre-erected structures, often filled with all manner of comfortable furnishings, complete with blazing fire pit around which to warm your toes and toast your mallows, bell tents offer a glamorous Devon glamping option. And if you want to put a bit more than an inch or two between your head and the ground and revel in the romanticism of a bygone era, then opt for a Shepherds Hut holiday - a very apt glamping Devon style, considering the rural surroundings and considerable number of sheep. Wooden steps up into comfort and charm, all warmed by a wood burning stove. Devon Shepherds hut holidays.

Once you've booked your Devon glamping pitch, there's little more to do than order in the jam and clotted cream, bake a few scones and get practicing. Perfick!
