Camping Site
This campsite is attached to Okehampton Youth Hostel, an activity centre on the edge of Dartmoor with all sorts of outdoor adventures for all ages arranged on site. With direct access to Dartmoor and the Granite Way (NCN 27), there's plenty for those that enjoy walking and biking of Dartmoor and the Devon Countryside, with cycle hire on -site if you forget to pack the bike. The level grass pitches at Okehampton are in the grounds of the youth hostel which has been converted from a Victorian railway shed. All campers have full use of the facilities including showers, toilets, free wifi, TV and games rooms and a self-catering kitchen.
If you're an adventurer, then you can have a go at mountain boarding, archery and scaling the climbing wall or ropes, with watersports including surfing, gorge scrambling, kayaking and canoeing on offer at the hostel’s private lake; those with a true headfor heights can also have a go at the Big Oke Abseil.
If all the adrenaline above sounds a tad too much, plenty of people come to Okehampton for a chill-out time: there are activities like walks, quiz nights and campfire fun laid on in the evenings, or you could go for proper Devon downtime in the on-site licensed restaurant to try our locally sourced food, local beers and cider. The latest addition being locally produced buffalo which chef Gareth has made into the most awesome Buffalo Burgers.
