Within easy reach of Ashbourne, Bakewell, Matlock and Buxton, Callow Top is a picturesque location for your caravan or camping holiday in the Derbyshire & Staffordshire Peak District.

Situated in a delightful, elevated setting in the Derbyshire countryside, we’re surrounded by open, green fields yet within walking distance of the market town of Ashbourne. You couldn’t be more perfectly located for exploring the most attractive areas of Derbyshire & the Peak District National Park.

Being just on the border of Staffordshire we’re only 20 minutes drive away from Alton Towers.

As well as ample space for caravans, tents, trailer tents and motorhomes, we also offer the choice of two traditional oak-beamed holiday cottages as alternative accommodation for those who choose not to camp.

The facilities at Callow Top are second-to-none, we have everything you need for a fun-filled family holiday, as well as being close to all the area’s major attractions. You really have the best of both worlds here and if you don’t feel like exploring, you needn’t leave the park if you don’t want to!

Campsites with Swimming Pool -Callow TopEverybody will enjoy the many walks nearby, and you can cycle on the Tissington Trail right from the site.

To keep kids (of all ages!) happy you can take a dip in our heated swimming pool, have a knockabout on our football field or challenge your friends to a game of pool or table tennis.

If you need a rest from all that walking and activity, you can relax by taking a few moments to sit by the park’s well-stocked fishing lake or enjoy a pint from the on-site brewery.

There is so much to enjoy in this beautiful area and, at Callow Top, you have the opportunity to discover it all at your own leisure.

Looking for campsites with fishing?

Then you’ve come to the right place! Bring your tent, caravan or motorhome to Callow Top and fish our mature lake.

Our fishing lake provides an ecologically balanced mixed coarse fishery, stocked with Rudd, Roach, Tench, Perch, Crucian & Mirror Carp.

Wildlife is a big part of life at Callow Top and we recognise the need for proper habitat management and environmental excellence. Our coarse fishing lake, and the nature reserve surrounding it, were developed by working closely with the environment agency.

The lake is well stocked with mature fish. Several anglers have reported catches of up to 100lb total weight.

A wide selection of pegs are available with double pegs suitable for parent & child/disabled fishing. The fishing lake is situated 1/4 mile away from the main park facilities and pitches, parking is available adjacent to the lake. Sorry we don’t hire out fishing equipment, you will need to bring your own with you.

The fishing lake also has its own bird hide which is available free of charge to guests who would like to observe the wildlife in our nature reserve. A £5 refundable deposit is required for the key. A selection of bird watching and wildlife books are available to borrow from reception.

Fish must be returned to the water straight away.
Sorry no keep nets.
Barbless hooks must be used at all times.

Fantastic view from all pitches of the sea. Paid £17.50 per night inc electric hookup (September 2018). No set times for coming or leaving. 20min walk into Whitby.

Beautiful site but caravans are crowded. Other Haven parks got plenty of space but not this one. Last night couldn’t slept well cos a group of teenagers fooling around loudly outside at midnight.

This is quite caravan site, very restful. clean shower/toilet blocks, disabled shower room good. Small bar/restaurant. Pitches are good size, birds everywhere. Fresh bread made everyday. Five ££ ££

Camping and caravanning since 1977, all over the four corners of the UK, France Italy and Switzlerland we have never seen such an amazing campsite. No shop, no cafe, come prepared for sheer beauty.

Lots of space. Toilets and showers are clean. Lots of amenities close by including driving range,Tesco, 10 pin and karting. Feel like you're in the country though!

Busy on hot weekends, so it gets a bit noisy. Facilities are basic, but spectacular location. More relaxed than your typical national park campsite. Cross fields down to Castleton for pubs, taxi back

Unspoilt and beautiful. The murmuring stream of the camp sites name bubbles and babbles as it tumbles down the length of the site. Nick the owner is very friendly and always looks after guests.

The view from the camp site is fantastic, over the sea. Make sure your tent faces this way so first thing in the morning you have a brilliant view.

Callow Top Ashbourne

What was great?
There are plenty of things to do at Callow top. The children are well catered for with games field, play ground, arcade etc. The setting in the Peak District is stunning and the beautiful small town of Ashbourne is a gentle 30 minute walk away down the Tissington trail. There is also an outdoor pool onsite although this is only open during the summer months I believe. There is a very nice cafe/bar on site called Arnolds. Food here is pretty good although slightly pricey, but it is a nice place to chill out for a while and of course the kids loved the free wifi in there!! We went on a special offer weekend where it was two nights for the price of one which made it good value for money. The site staff are to be commended on their efficiency, enthusiasm and politeness.

Even better if....
Toilet and shower facilities....ive seen better but also worse. Its a big site with caravanners and campers, maybe they could keep on top of the cleaning a bit more. The pitches are quite close together meaning not much privacy and it also can be tricky manoeuvring onto your patch. The pitches tend not to be totally level either so don't forget your levelling blocks.

great location

What was great?
This site sits atop a hill as the name suggests. It is very clean and quiet. We visited when the pool was closed for winter but also the bar was closed on the Tuesday and Wednesday (made use of it on the Thursday), but the site was not very full. We cannot complain as the prices are halved this time of year. Took the cycles but found the hilly terrain too much for us at 64 years old. Ashbourne is a delight and only 30 mins walk away. Good idea to leave MH/van on site between weekends away for £3 per night.. saves towing home.

Even better if....
Would have balked at having to pay 20p for 4 minutes in the shower when paying full site price in the summer.
