Welcome to Chester Lakes

Situated in over 500 acres of Cheshire countryside, only 2 miles from Chester City Centre - Chester Lakes comprises lakes, lawns and parkland - historically a part of the Duke of Westminster’s estate. Now it hosts the perfect country retreat. The location is ideal for exploring Chester City Centre, Cheshire and the Welsh hills. The facilities are second to none, and the welcome is always warm.

Chester Lakes is your choice for a fabulous break - fish the lakes all day or to pop into Chester and enjoy a day at the races, cinemas, shops, pubs and clubs! All the options are open to you....

On site we have ten showers, fourteen toilets and adjoining wash down facilities. Situated on our main car park is Chester Lakes cafe, run by Andy and Emma. The cafe offers a selection of traditional English breakfasts and light refreshments for lunch. Alongside the cafe is the children’s sweet shop and fishing tackle shop where we can offer fishing rod hire, fishing lessons and sale of any type of bait and tackle you require.

New this year, are our amazing BBQ pods. Seating 10 people, they add a touch of luxury to your camping break. Enjoy a warm and dry dining area with electrical sockets for children’s electrical toys and laptops. Alternatively the pods can accommodate four people in total warmth throughout your stay.

Have you seen our exciting new functions marquee? For larger groups and party celebrations it’s the ideal venue whatever the occasion - from Hog Roasts to birthday parties and family celebrations. What’s more you can even camp around the marquee, no travelling! It’s the perfect party venue.

For the specimen fisherman we have just opened our sixth lake, Doddleston. With some massive carp action! Catches of fish from 7 to 24lbs are the norm on this water, with recent specimen fish added from a Lymm angling reservoir. For a unique Chester Lakes experience booking is essential due to huge demand and a limit of our eight pegs on this water. All our specimen lake pegs are setup with electric hook-up and lights - you can park your car and setup your bivvy right by the water’s edge.

For those wanting something special check out our woodland camping “Super pitches”. With prior booking you can reserve an island set in our beautiful woodland area. The well illuminated island has some lovely fishing waters right around your private tent pitch - we don’t think this can be beaten for its individuality and natural beauty.

BBQ House Pods

Our BBQ House Pods are a fabulous and fun part of the Chester Lakes complex. The pods are purpose built for us and, as you can see, are a fantastic fishing retreat, whatever the weather, ideal for family get together or a romantic break.

The pods have a central BBQ and chimney and seating up to 11 people, having quickly joined up to the Chester Lakes Fishing Club a great week or weekend is yours to be enjoyed.

View our BBQ Pod Do's and Dont's. We need £100.00 deposit on arrival for each pod including a valid UK driving license.

*NOTE* Please bring your own cutlery and bedding when staying in the BBQ pods as neither will be provided by the camp site.

Camping

Holidaymakers love the peaceful, tranquil setting of Chester Lakes. It's a real chance to escape the pace and practicalities of our busy lives. Set in Cheshire's countryside, in lush green fields, the accommodation lends itself to those who love getting close to nature and living an outdoor life.

The camping pitches are well spread out and are either child friendly, away from the water's edge, or actually on the water's edge for the more romantic or keen anglers! We also offer 25 “super pitches” that are serviced with power and in the best location with a lot more space to enjoy (call for details).

There are picnic benches and clean showers and toilets. We have an on site cafe and fishing tackle & camping shop.

Groups and large families are especially well catered for. Please contact us directly to tailor make a break full of fun, adventure and excitement.

Caravans

Our caravan park is on the woodland fringe looking over the Welsh hills, our five pitches spread over a 3 acre site so tranquillity is a guarantee. With great road access and the onsite facilities of Chester Lakes our caravan park is known as one of the best locally.

Cafe

Our Cafe is situated in the heart of the Chester Lakes complex and is a family business run by Emma and Andy.

Open seven days a week from 7.30am and offering good honest home cooked food at realistic prices, it is an ideal place for breakfast, lunch and snacks, maybe just a coffee while you sit and relax taking in the breathtaking scenery.

Chester Lakes Cafe welcomes families, so why not take the children for an ice cream and let them have fun on the swings and climbing frame or simply all take a stroll around the lakes and marvel at the abundance of wildlife in their natural habitat.

Chester Lakes Cafe also boasts a separate room which can comfortably seat up to 24 people and is available for private hire, making it an ideal venue for small or intimate occasions. This is ideal for Children's birthday parties.

Whatever you decide to do you will always be welcomed at Chester Lakes Cafe, where our experienced team offer first class service in a warm and welcoming environment.

Fishing

Although only three miles from the centre of Chester, Chester Lakes is set in a delightful 65-acre rural setting with its own on-site cafe, toilets with washing facilities and a large caravan/camping park with hard standings. Each of the hard standings has its own electric and water point and the site has a central a waste disposal area.

The charming little Wood Pool at Chester Lakes FisheryThroughout the Chester Lakes site there are hard roadways which make most of the venue suitable for disabled anglers and whilst three of the four existing pleasure lakes are what can only be described as exposed, a great deal of bankside tree and shrub planting is being carried out to soften the landscape including the planting of more than 2,500 birch, laurel, oak and beech trees. In addition, thousands of spring bulbs have been planted.

The cafe is open from 7.00am seven days a week and serves a wide range of hot and cold food, snacks and drinks including All Day breakfasts, filled jacket potatoes, hot baguettes, sandwiches and even porridge and oak smoked kipper fillets.

Next to the cafe is the well stocked tackle shop which sells a range of tinned and packet baits, hooks, floats, weights, line and other accessories. The shop also has a full range of fishing tackle available for hire whilst bigger items such as chairs, poles, rods, clothing and other accessories can be ordered in the shop for delivery in three working days.

The three main pleasure lakes are located next to each other just a short walk from the cafe and are stocked with similar ratios and sizes of silver fish and carp to 16lbs. These waters have between 22 and 26 pegs per pool.

A fourth pool, Wood Pool (left), is the furthest water from the cafe and can be found - as its name suggests - on the edge of the wood at the end of the track which runs past the three main lakes. Although Wood Pool is smaller than three other waters with only 10 pegs it is an interesting little pool with plenty of charm and character and well worth a visit.

The new Doddleston Lake specimen water Chester Lakes FisheryAldford Lake at Chester Lakes FisheryThe fishery has its own dedicated campsite situated away from the lakes and anglers can also camp around the bankside. All the lakes are illuminated at night and there are several electric hook-ups around each water so anglers in tents and bivvies can have access to electricity.

Night fishing is allowed on all Chester Lakes waters for both night anglers and those with tents and caravans and there are picnic benches at various points throughout the site making it ideal for anglers and their families to have a day out together by the bankside.

The new four acre Dodleston day ticket lake (left) is a purpose-built specimen water which is being stocked with large double figure carp. With only 14 pegs, this is now open - bookings recommended.

With Chester City Centre less than 5 minutes away we are the perfect location for an exciting and varied break.

Directions

Take M56 then M53 Chester onto A55 North Wales come off for Wrexham A483.

At the small roundabout at the start of the A483, go all the way around and back towards Chester / A55.

After 200 yards turn left for Dodleston and Kinnerton, go past Chester Southerly Caravan Park and straight over the next roundabout, all the time following the Chester Lakes Brown Fish signs.

Continue over the level crossing and turn left into Church Road and after 50 metres turn left into Chester Lakes and follow the road into Chester Lakes and follow the road internal signs.
