Award-winning glamping site with domes set in tranquil woodland near Hay on Wye on the Welsh Borders.

Award winning Cosy Under Canvas is a woodland glamping site that lends itself to a relaxed, alternative break away from the trappings of a hectic life. It is perfect for those who love the idea of unique, low impact and environmentally friendly camping with everything provided. Our eco friendly glamping holiday site is in four acres of beech woodland, just a stone’s throw from the popular book town of Hay on Wye in Powys, Wales.

There are 7 geodomes set on wooden platforms each with a private fire pit and stylish wood burning stoves that can be stoked up to keep you toasty over night and on those, sometimes, chilly summer evenings.

Keep warm under the thick feather duvets, contemporary Welsh blankets, throws, and crisp bedding, plus there are sheepskins and fluffy rugs, It’s peaceful, relaxing and comfortable.

The 2 Cosy domes are 5m in diameter and comfortably sleeps four adults, two on a double bed and two on roll out futon mattress. All beds have memory foam toppers for extra warmth and comfort. There's a chiminea on the deck that's great for toasting marshmallows or even your toes after an adventurous day out.

The Spacious domes are 6m in diameter, 4m high. They sleep up to 4 adults comfortably and 5 or 6 if you’ve got the kids with you. Two sleep on a comfy king size bed, made from locally sourced wood and the extras on raised futon beds. The domes each have exclusive use of a wood-fired hot tub, perfect for steamy nights under the stars.

Imagine soaking in a steaming hot tub after an active day in the countryside. Bliss! The simple eco tubs are easy to use, just use the kiln dried wood provided to light a fire in the firebox submerged in the water. The hot tub takes about 4 hours to heat the first time and once the insulated lid is popped back on the water remains warm for hours.

Hot tubs are charged at an additional cost of between £35 - £70 per stay to depending on the size of tub.

There’s a fully kitted, shared camp kitchen, a cosy corner for craft activities and a cosy lounge to make the most of time out, chilling out or relaxing with a book.

We keep our impact on the environment to a minimum. There are compost loos and washrooms in the woods, plus eco, wood fired showers with a canopy view. Alternatively, use the new washroom and biomass boiler heated power showers.

Campfires are positively encouraged and there's a fire pit in front of each unit. There’s plenty of seating for everyone and the large spaces around the fire pits mean that campfire cooking is a must. All dig into a one-pot stew or prepare a BBQ feast.

We’ve thought of everything to get you back to nature in style.
Stay local – find activities and games to keep the family happy on site, dip into the Cosy Activity Book for inspiration, paddle in the shallow stream or just laze in the hammocks and absorb the scenery. Enjoy time as a family.

There’s something to keep everyone entertained whatever their age. Children will enjoy following the trail round the site to the feely boxes, swings and den and using the activity book for ideas of woodland games to play. If there’s a big group of you set up a boules or cards competition or get creative with the crafty bits and bobs in the cosy corner.

Directions

You will need to check out the directions before you leave home as there is no mobile signal from about a mile away from the site. The postcode is HR5 3QQ and some sat nav’s recognise this but others don’t. If your sat nav doesn’t recognise the postcode please put ‘Clyro’ in and then follow the brown signs from the main A438 Brecon to Hereford road.

Cozy in the winter (grab a seat next to the open fire) and a good place to sit out in the sun and watch the world go by when it's warm. Cakes are great and the soup is good value.
