We had our weekend spoiled by the owner. He grabbed at my steering wheel whilst I was reversing the caravan and even though we'd arranged to stay until tea time on Sunday - at 4pm on Sunday, whilst packing up our thinks, the owner threatened that he'd tow us away if we didn't leave immediately. He was very aggressive and intimidating! Not what you'd expect at all! Chickens on roof at 6am. Dirty toilets. Shower didn't work.

I don't think I've ever met a more disagreeable man in my life than the owner of this site! He threatened to slap my dog & grabbed hold of his lead after walking into our tent uninvited and waking them up to see a complete stranger stood in front of them and barked!!! Makes you feel very uneasy as is watching every move you make and discusses other campers which I find very unprofessional. We left a day early as we just couldn't stand it. GIVE THIS PLACE A WIDE BERTH IF YOU WANT TO RELAX AND ENJOY YOUR BREAK. We will be returning to York House which is just down the coast and will highly recommend it.

Where do I start . If I had seen true reflections of this site we would have been booked and saved a lot of grief. It is not dog friendly. Well it maybe if your dog never leaves your car. It seems you can not even let dog off lead down the lane away from site. Right away made to feel intimidated. Jokes made at your expense on arrival etc. At first we just put this down to owner sense of humour. All arrivals were watched as they got their tent/caravan sited. You felt you were under surveillance at all times. Be it dawn or the middle of the night. Once tent up we were asked if the front part of the tent could not be used as tent so big. We own a Montana 6 with front awning. Yes a large tent but owner given size on booking. A fact which he was reminded off. Level site very basic toilets (2) no lighting at night. Very poor lighting in the portacabin toilets. Very low voltage electric do not use things like toasters, kettles or heaters. You are made aware of this once you get on site. Given basic information etc. and owner says to ring him if more knowledge needed. Grass very good apart from chicken poo everywhere. Sadly it’s a bit like a Regimented Boot camp, great to have pride in your grass but to the determent of your customers I think not. Owner kept appearing from nowhere, questioning what we or others were doing. Owner very aggressive and threatening. Leading to confronation that we have never seen at any site in over 30 years of camping. Other campers speaking to each other when they arrive saying that they are glad someone new has turned up so that they may not be the focus of the owner rough tongue. A first for us. Uncomfortable - I have never been to a site where the owner feels it is acceptable to just walk into your tent, stands and stares at people when chatting and playing on the grass area, discussing fellow campers and pointing out their wrong doings. Poor customer service in fact very very poor at times at other times could be helpful Poor lighting Poor amenities Things we can deal with as at £18.00 per night for 2 adults not a bad price but to be made to feel intimidated all the time we cannot forgive this at any time or price!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have never written a poor review before in the 30 years we have been camping but can say this is the worse camp site we have been on. Not for the facilities or the site but for the unfriendly, aggressive, hostile manner of the owner. Sad as a nice location and could be great. I would never return to this site and DO NOT RECOMMEND it as dog friendly as it certainly isnt! Don't be mislead by good reviews. Not a friendly site and no one while we were there had good things to say and would not be returning so not sure how this site has got these good reviews?

What was great?
This was our third stay in three years. Terry the owner is a fantastic guy who is full of local knowledge and things to do and places to eat. Unlike some owners he likes to have a laugh and make sure you have everything you need to have a good time ( lent us some fold up chairs this time). The site is kept immaculate and the pitches are flat. Showers block is basic but there is always hot water, toilet roll and domestic style electric showers to use as well as being clean. Hey when the owner invites you for a surprise breakfast because he finds out you got married since you were last there things can't be bad. Cheers Terry

From when we arrived at the campsite we were subjected to bullying tactics by the owner. The reviews on other campsite pages were so glowing we expected a brilliant holiday. WRONG. We were told how and which way to pitch our tent, given a does and don't sheet of paper. Everywhere we went he appeared from nowhere checking on what we were doing. We were actually on the site for 5 hours from the Friday to Saturday, as we were out all day Saturday and didn't come back till 2100 hrs. I went to the toilet and when I came out he was there. Told me he had been waiting for us to come back, said he had complaints from 1/2 the campsite that we were too noisy and had to leave by 0930 the next day. I am 64 years old, my sister is 61. We had a dog and my sister's partner with us. Not teenagers. !!!!! From not letting the dog mess on the site, responsible owners do not do that, told to park the car in the field and not let the dog excercise in it, the field was full of sheep mess.!!! Children were not allowed to play football, adults were not allowed to laugh, chickens were messing in the field, and we were told not to linger in the showers, they weren't clean enough to linger in, toilets as bad. I have been camping for years with my sister and also with under 17's rugby club, never have I experienced such an unwelcome and aggressive person in my life. It was nice to read other reviews as we thought it was us.
