Welcome to Langdale Lakes

Langdale Lakes near Lincoln, has been owned and run by Tony & Karen Bostock since June of 2005. We provide high quality bed & breakfast accommodation, a small and friendly touring caravan and camping site and a fishery near Lincoln where there is genuinely good Carp and Coarse fishing available from two very pretty lakes. The lakes are set within 8.5 acres of beautiful countryside where wildlife has been nurtured and encouraged for many years yet we are only 5 miles from the centre of Lincoln with its numerous tourist attractions and great shopping facilities. Langdale Lakes is for Adults only unless the young people are serious about fishing. This is because we do not have any facilities to keep young people occupied. Well behaved dogs are very welcome at both the caravan site and lakeside when fishing.
You can spend your time simply relaxing beside your caravan or tent or on one of the garden benches positioned around the mature, tree lined lakes. Alternatlively, visit the city of Lincoln, where there are many tourist attractions, a varied and modern shopping centre as you would expect in a quality city together with many small specialist shops, particularly around the Cathedral and Castle. The Lincolnshire Wolds and Coast are only a short drive away with wonderful villages and resorts that cater for all tastes.You can enjoy a great days fishing on one of the 40 generously spaced fishing pegs set around the two lakes. Each fishing peg has plenty of space for a two man bivvy and some can accommodate larger tents. Flush toilets, showers and small kitchen are positioned near to the lakes for the comfort of campers, anglers and visitors. Some of our touring caravan pitches are sited right next to or very near to the lakes and all are equipped with electric hook up points.
High Quality Bed & Breakfast Rooms are Located on the Ground and First Floor levels of our New Home, the construction of which was completed in September of 2008. We have two en-suite bedrooms on the ground floor, one fitted as a double, the other as a twin. We have a further larger double room on the first fllor. All rooms are furnished to high standards with comfortable bedding and are equipped with freeview flat screen television, dvd player, free wireless broadband connection and unlimited tea & coffee, the en-suites are equipped with power showers.
Langdale Lodge is an ideal base to use for visiting Lincoln, the Lincolnshire Wolds, the Lincolnshire Coast or for simply having a relaxing and comfortable stay (not forgetting the fishing).
We are located just 5 miles from the centre of Lincoln with good hourly bus services to both Lincoln, Horncastle and the Coast, the bus stops right outside the driveway entrance.
Tony and Karen offer a free pick up & drop off service at Lincoln train station making this a very practical car free base for your holiday.
Our full cooked breakfast or lighter option is served in the dining room which has views over the lakes and our stock pond. There are two dining pubs in our village which cater for lunch and evening meals.
We charge £70.00 per night for two people sharing or £45.00 for single occupancy.

We have recently been assessed by "Quality in Tourism" and are proud to have been awarded 4 Stars for the standard of our Bed and Breakfast. "Quality in Tourism" is the assessment service provided by Visit England. The quality assessor books in and reserves a room in the normal way and stays to test all services together with the breakfast. They assess everything and only inform the establishment once they have completed their assessment (it is just like the Hotel Inspector series on the television). Lincoln Caravan and Camping Site

Our caravan and camping site can accommodate : Caravans, Motor Homes, Tents and Camper Vans and all pitches have 16amp electric hook-up available if required. Our pitches are well spaced apart so that when you stay here you feel relaxed and comfortable. Some of our caravan and motorhome pitches are right next to the water and those that are not are not very far away. Camping pitches for tents are available around the lakes or on the main caravan areas. Toilet and shower facilities are located very close to each caravan area so you never have far to walk. For those of you who travel light, and only bring essential camping equipment, we have a small Kitchen equipped with a microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster, it also has a sink with hot running water.

Lincoln Carp and coarse Fishing in Two Stocked Lakes

Lily lake is just over 1.6 acres & has been established for over 100 years. It was originally excavated for gravel which was used to construct local railway embankments. It was stocked as a fishery in the early 60's by the then owner. Tony & Karen dredged & re-stocked the lake with a mix of beautiful Mirror Carp and Common Carp following the floods of June 2007. The lake has now been stocked again with a mix of Common Carp, Scaley Mirror Carp and mixed Coarse Fish Species. These Scaley Carp are absolutely beautiful. Lily Lake is a fun Carp lake with many upper doubles & a few into the twenties. The largest fish to be caught to date is a specimen of 26lb 11oz.
Tench and Bream run to 6lbs together with many Roach, Perch and Silver Fish Species make this a fun coarse fishing lake.
Depths vary between 3ft & 8ft & every peg has a wealth of features to target. The tree lined margins & lily beds ensure a relaxing days fishing or watching the varied wildlife. Please note our rules regarding minimum tackle requirements for this lake (see prices & rules).

We have stocked some new fish into Lily Lake. This Scaley Mirror Carp is just one of 87 good sized Carp introduced during February 2011. These fish vary in size from 8lbs to 20lbs and they are all as beautiful as this one. A mix of Common Carp and Mirror Carp will ensure a good days sport for all. Have a look at our photo gallery for more pictures of the fish that we have introduced.
Willow Lake at just over 1.4 acres is densely stocked with a mix of Coarse fish and Carp. It was formed following gravel extraction and was stocked with fish over 45 years ago. Tree lined margins and lily beds provide a natural environment for the fish and the abundant wildlife. There are many carp weighing between 3lb and 15lb together with Tench to 9lb, Bream to 9lb and a good head of Crucian Carp, Roach, Perch and Chub which are sure to provide hours of quality fishing. Depths vary between 2ft and 7ft and the bottom is predominantly clear of any weed. Willow lake is available for group bookings for a maximum of 12 people. This Lake is a heavily stocked lake and has been managed over the last five years to increase the average weight of the fish stocks. This management continues to ensure that the lake contains good size specimens of all the species stocked.

Fishery Rules

Barbless or Micro Barbed hooks only
No keep nets allowed except for official matches
Large, ideally 42", "Carp Friendly" landing nets must be used on Lily Lake if fishing for the Carp
Large unhooking mats must be used on Lily Lake if fishing for the Carp
All landing nets & unhooking mats must be dipped in the tanks provided before starting to fish
No use of Tiger Nuts or any other type of nut as bait or groundbait is allowed
Under 8's are not allowed at all as we are predominantly an adult only site
Under 16's must be accompanied by a responsible adult
Radios must be kept at low volume levels
No bonfires allowed whatsoever
BBQ's must be on a stand at least 6" above the ground
Goundbait may only be used on a feeder or method rig. No loose groundbaiting is allowed.
Loose feeding with pellets or particles must be kept to absolute minimum. We will be monitoring this.
No braid to be used as mainline on either of our lakes
Any person not complying with these rules will be asked to leave
Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times & mess must be cleared away

Introduction
Langdale Lodge is located in the village of Langworth just 5 miles from the centre of Lincoln and offers two guest rooms: one twin room with en-suite shower room and a double bedroom with en-suite shower room.

The house was built in 2008 and was designed and self build managed by the current owners : Tony & Karen Bostock.
The house was designed and built to operate as a bed and breakfast establishment. It has been designed to provide good access for those guests with limited mobility.

Langdale Lodge is set in 8.5 acres of beautiful Lincolnshire countryside and is positioned next to two mature fishing lakes.
Wildlife has been encouraged and nurtured for many years, a walk around the lakes is a must for all visitors.
Access around the lakes for those with limited mobility is possible, benches to rest or simply relax are positioned at appropriate intervals.
We do suggest that wheelchair users ask for assistance should they wish to go around the lakes. We are always available to help if asked.

Pre-Arrival

We are located in the village of Langworth on the north side of Station Road, the A158, look for the large green signs for Langdale Lakes which identify our main entrance.

Bus services to Lincoln, Horncastle, Wragby, Louth and Skegness run right past our main entrance. There is no bus shelter or seating and the busses run approximately every 60 minutes.
The bus service stops at approximately midnight.

Lincoln railway station is just 5 miles away, we offer a free pick up and drop off service to this station. To use this service please request at time of making your booking.

Taxis are available at Lincoln station or we can book one for you in advance if required.

We regret that we are unable to accommodate guests' pets but do of course welcome assistance dogs.

Car Parking and Arrival

Turn off the main road (A158) at our main entrance which is clearly signed with large green signage to Langdale Lakes.
Once you have turned off the main road, travel down our private driveway until you see Langdale Lodge on your left hand side,
Langdale Lodge is a large green painted house.
Park in any of the spaces which are always available at the front of the property.

Access to our property is gained from the flagged pathway across an area of grass.
This pathway is well lit at night by external lighting equipped with motion sensors.

Level access is available through our main front door (915mm wide) while our side entrance door (915mm wide) provides access more directly to the guest rooms has a single step with a height of 175mm.

Welcome Area

Guests are welcomed in the Hallway which is level throughout, where they are asked to register. Seating is available on request.
This area is well lit with overhead lighting and a table lamp.
Assistance can be given with luggage on request.

Bedrooms

Our guest bedrooms are located on the ground floor and both have level access throughout.
The en-suite shower room to our twin bedroom does have two steps up to the shower cubicle. These steps are 135mm high each, apart from these two steps level access is maintained everywhere.

Each en-suite shower room, accessed via a 915mm wide door, is equipped with a large shower cubicle housing a power shower with height adjustable & removable shower head.
Wash hand basins and toilets are provided, these are all set at standard heights.
Both en-suite shower rooms are equipped a heated towel rail.

Eating of hot food is not allowed within the Bedrooms, the Dining room is always available and use of our crockery and cutlery is welcomed.

Public Areas : Halls and Corridors

All public areas are well lit using a combination of overhead lights and table lamps.
The Hallway is slate look laminate covered with carpet runners with non slip backing.
There are no steps in any public areas.

Heating to the guest rooms is provided by thermostatically controlled electric heaters which are available for guests to use and adjust at their discretion any time of day or night.
Public areas are centrally heated and controlled by the owners.

There are automatic audible smoke alarms in both bedrooms and all public areas.

Dining Room

The Breakfast room is situated off the Hallway and via the Lounge on the ground floor with unrestricted width and level access.
The whole area is fully carpeted.
Large windows and patio doors provide plenty of natural light supplemented by adjustable overhead lights.

There is a wood burning stove located within the inglenook fireplace which provides a very homely feel and warmth throughout this area.

There is seating for up to eight people at a solid oak table with co-ordinating chairs.
Co-ordinating oak sideboard, display cabinets and buffet unit where guests can help themselves to cereal, yoghurts, juices and fruit. Assistance can be provided on request.

The Dining area is available for use anytime of day and guests are welcome to make use of the Kitchen to serve takeaway's. Guests may use our crockery, cutlery and microwave.

Garden and Grounds

Guests are welcome to use any of the garden areas and are encouraged to make use of the patio furniture and all other benches and seating areas located around the 8.5 acres of grounds.
Smoking is allowed anywhere in the grounds including at the patio table but is not permitted in or immediately next to the building. An ash tray can be provided on request.

Additional Information

There are "In Case of Fire" instructions posted on the back of the guest room doors.

There is an information folder for each of the bedrooms with maps giving information on NHS facilities, local restaurants and pubs, travel, theatres and other local recreational activities.
We have a selection of menus for local restaurants and takeaway's for guests perusal.

Storage and drying facilities are available for walkers, cyclists and fishermen.

A battery charging facility is available on request for motorised scooters and other powered equipment.

Free Broadband and WiFi facilities are available via our unsecured connection.

We are happy to cater for any special diets, likes or dislikes.
Please advise when making your booking.

We can refrigerate prescription medication and store perishable food in our fridge for the duration of your stay.

Mobile phone reception is good at Langdale Lodge.

Langdale Lodge Environmental Policy

We are lucky enough to live in a beautiful, natural environment so here at Langdale Lodge we try to look after what we have.

Our Mission Statement "We at Langdale Lodge endeavour to ensure as far as possible that our activities have minimal impact upon the environment.
Where possible we attempt to use local produce, use environmentally friendly products, reuse and recycle waste, conserve energy and try to preserve wildlife habitats."

As a friendly, family run bed and breakfast, we care about the world we will pass on to our children. With this in mind we aim to make Langdale Lodge as environmentally friendly as possible.

We support, use and promote local produce, food, drink & crafts;

It is our policy at Langdale Lodge to buy from local sources wherever possible. This applies not only to food and drink but building materials, printing, stationary and other general supplies.
By using local companies and producers we are supporting the local market which will in turn benefit our business by creating a sustainable local economy, plus it reduces the miles that these goods will have travelled to reach us, therefore reducing the associated carbon emissions.
Here at Langdale Lodge we source most of our produce from local butchers and greengrocers, on the basis of locally reared and produced, locally grown, home grown or homemade, buying from farmers markets and fairtrade products wherever possible.
We grow some of our own fruit, vegetables and herbs and the eggs we serve for breakfast our from our own free range chickens.
We produce our own homemade preserves from home grown Plums, Damsons, Gooseberries, Raspberries and Blackberries.

Here at Langdale Lodge we store the wood from around the lakes for a one to two years until it is sufficiently dried to use in our wood burning stove, this heats the hot water and serves the central heating system.
We use energy efficient light bulbs where possible.

We always try to switch off lights in unoccupied rooms & request that our guests do the same. Loft Loft spaces are insulated and windows are double glazed.
All electrical appliances have been replaced with eco-friendly A & B rated appliances. Batteries are recharged using a battery charger and wind up torches are in the bedrooms.
Water usage is reduced by installing small size cisterns to all toilets, using lake water for watering flowers and reducing the number of towels washed with an environmentally friendly policy in all guest rooms.

Situated by the Lincolnshire Limewoods and close to the national cycle routes, we have a good supply of information relating to walks, guided walks, cycle routes, natures reserves and of course our own 8.5 acres of beautiful Lincolnshire countryside.

We are constantly looking at ways to encourage the wildlife to flourish at Langdale Lodge through the management of the woodland and lakes, bird feeding and erecting nesting boxes.
We encourage visitors to explore and recognise the variety of wildlife, flora & fauna that inhabit our land.

Glass, tins, aluminium, paper, card & plastics if not reused are recycled. Jars are kept for jams and chutneys or for storage of dry goods. Stamps are collected & given to charity, as are clothes and any unwanted furniture. Kitchen & garden waste is composted. Print cartridges are recycled via the supplier. Were possible packaging and envelopes are reused and scrap paper is used for notepaper.

Here at Langdale Lodge we try to minimise the business use of vehicles as much as possible and combine trips with other purchases and activities. Bulk purchasing also reduces the need to constantly shop. We try to avoid purchasing products with unnecessary packaging.

Langdale Lodge is a non-smoking establishment.

A supply of visitor information leaflets on attractions, places to visit, maps, circular walks and timetables are available for guests to borrow during their stay.
Langdale Lodge caters for all diets including vegetarian and diabetic and we welcome any suggestions about how its environmental policy can be further improved.
We hope you, the visitor, will join us in trying to make Langdale Lodge an environmentally friendly B&B.
Here are a few ways in which you can help us:
Switch off the television to ultra low energy consumption standby mode when not in use.
Use the blue recycle dustbins sited near to the car park.
Please don't leave the tap running when you brush your teeth.
Spend a day of your holiday 'car free', enjoy a walk around our 8.5 acres, go for a longer walk through Sudbrooke Park, or try a bit of fishing.
