The Larkham family welcomes you to Maustin Park

Maustin Park is situated at Kearby near Wetherby, a secluded backwater in the heart of Emmerdale Country, just across the River Wharfe from the Harewood House Estate, renowned for its Stately Home and Bird Garden.

We are set in the sheltered lower wharf valley, with the river wharf running between the park and the rugged ruin of Harewood Castle. To the west, Alsmscliffe's giant rock stands against the skyline and there are uninterrupted views to the east across the plain of York to the white horse of Kilburn.

Our award winning park is an ideal base for those wishing to explore the surrounding countryside. The 'Summerhouse' is packed full of information for interesting days out.

For those who enjoy a more leisurely way of life, why not just put your feet up and read one of the books from our library or just relax in the sunshine watching the resident bowlers on the bowling green. If you prefer a little retail therapy Harrogate is only a short drive away with a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants.

At Maustin we take looking after the environment very seriously and are proud to hold the David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation – so look out for local flora and fauna. The Red Kites released into the wild from Harewood Bird Garden are a spectacular sight soaring high over Maustin Park on a daily basis.

You can be assured of a very warm and friendly welcome here at Maustin Park.

Touring and Camping

Our sheltered touring field benefits from excellent facilities including toilets, free showers & hairdryers in both ladies and gents. These are located in our newly built amenities building. There is also a disabled toilet available.

A washing up area with hot water, laundry and the use of a freezer is also provided. Water points and bins are located at The Elson Point.

Your pitch is also available till 3pm on the day of departure at no extra cost (subject to availability in high season)

Our 'Stables' bar and restaurant has a warm friendly atmosphere and is ideal for meeting friends, old and new over a beverage and a traditional home cooked meal.

On the patio of the 'Stables' bar is the 'Summerhouse' filled with lots of ideas for interesting days out and about. This is also where the library can be found.

The Reception opening hours are 9am – 5pm 7 days per week

Enjoy the cosy ambience of Maustin Park with its spectacular scenery.

The stables bar and restaurant offers a variety of home cooked meals with a fantastic specials board. The Chefs pride themselves on our fabulous Sunday lunch and the fish and chip Fridays are very popular. Make sure you leave some room for one of our mouth watering desserts as they are not to be missed. All our food is sourced locally and served to you in lovely surroundings at a very reasonable price. We also serve a wide range of local beers and a good selection of wines and spirits.

Try your hand at a game of bowls on our manicured bowling green. For those of you who like a more serious game you are more than welcome to join our bowling club.

For the keen bird watchers cast your eyes in the sky any day of the week and you will see the spectacular sight of the Red Kites soaring over Maustin Park. These are formidable birds of prey that were released into the wild from Harewood House Bird Garden some years ago.

Just a stone throw away is the river Wharf which runs between the park and Harewood Castle and a leisurely stroll along the river bank is a must on a glorious hot summer's day.

Why not grab a bestseller from our library or make use of the Free Wi fi facilities on park and relax while enjoying the fresh country air.

Our park benefits from a new amenity block housing immaculately clean toilets and FREE separate showers. Other areas maintain laundry, washing up facilities and water points. People with disabilities are catered for and should you have any special requirements please do not hesitate in contacting us.

Out & About

Maustin Park is in the heart of Yorkshire, located in Kearby, near to Kirkby Overblow which is a small village approximately 6 miles from Harrogate. The local is the Shoulder of Mutton Inn , a traditional country pub with a good reputation; it even has a small shop selling meats, jams and wines.

Harrogate is a bustling modern town that was once a very popular Victorian spa resort where it was once fashionable to take the waters; visit the Royal Pump Room Museum to learn more. The Turkish baths that were restored in 2004 are full of history with magnificent handmade mosaic tiles that line the baths. The Mercer Art Gallery contains a collection of over 2000 works of art from the 19th and 20th century and will reveal more of the Victorian way of life

Harrogate is deservedly famous for its wonderful shops: boutiques, silversmiths, jewellers, watchmakers, antiques shops and all of the well-known retailers line the town streets.There are also plenty of cafes, wine bars and restaurants serving every kind of food and beverage. Of course there is also Betty's, the best of tea rooms in Yorkshire. Harrogate is close to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and surrounded by many natural attractions; Brimham Rocks, How Stean Gorge, Stump Cross Caverns and Plumpton Rocks. Home to The Great Yorkshire Show and flower shows in the Spring, be sure to visit the Harlow Carr Gardens, a must for the enthusiastic gardener.

About 12 miles south of Kearby is the grand city of Leeds with department stores (Harvey Nichols), museums and Art galleries. Leeds City Art Gallery has some fine displays and the Royal Armouries is world famous for its unique collections of edged weapons and armour. Between Leeds and Maustin Park is the famous Harewood House which is open to the public from March to October. This magnificent Georgian country mansion is full of beautiful antiques and paintings and also has extensive gardens (over 100 acres)and a bird garden.

Only a 20 minute car ride to the east of Maustin Park, York offers its visitors a mass of things to do, see and experience. Explore the wonderful city by boat trip, open-top bus or simply on foot. Dominating the city’s landscape is York Minster, the largest medieval cathedral in northern Europe. For a historical day trip, try the Jorvik Viking Centre; one of the most popular UK attractions outside of London. Alternatively, if you fancy a scare-filled trip to the most haunted city in Europe, participate in one of the many ghost walks available around the centre. You could even visit the York Dungeons and witness 2000 years of York’s darkest and most gruesome history! If all this isn’t enough, York even boasts the fascinating National Railway Museum with over 100 locomotives dating from the early 19th century to the present day.

The centre of York is made up of an abundance of shops from designer brands to unique boutiques. Bargain hunters should head to McArthur Glen Designer Outlet just outside York.

For those of you who enjoy a day at the races, you will be spoilt for choice as Wetherby, York and Doncaster racecourses are all within a short driving distance of Maustin Park.
