What was great?
We have just had a great time at Meredith Farm Campsite. The lambs are a delight - all playing together in a gang. The views are glorious and there is so much space for campfires and peace that anyone would be content. No music! isn't that great! The facilities are very good. Yes a 'rustic' timber shower and toilet building, but clean, private, airy, warm and well maintained, with sufficient hot water. The owner will help with just about anything. Lovely to walk by the stream and watch the rabbits, lambs, and then there was ELVIS. The area has a great deal to offer - we had no idea. Not done half of it, so we'll be back.

Even better if....

What was great?
This is an amazing site. One of my all time favourites. Dr. Neil as an amazing proprietor, so unbelievably relaxed and friendly. Greeted us as we drove across the site, and then just let us camp anywhere, even suggesting a nice quiet - hard to access - corner, that we might enjoy as we were looking for isolation and just happened to be in a Land Rover. He allows ground fires, provides wood, has a big shower-block-summer-house full of laminated maps to borrow, a "loaners" cupboard full of plates, mugs, washing up stuff... a library full of books to borrow and kids toys - literally everything kicking about. There is even an honesty shop of cheap essentials and farm produce you can just buy and pop your quid in a tin. Fantastically trustworthy, I hope he is duly respected for it. Absolutely loved the petting zoo too. Cheap as chips to stay as well.

Even better if....
Over the easter weekend he had a few more pitches than advertised, but it still wasn't crowded - the site is huge! The only real downside is that there is plenty of strolling about the site, no footpaths/bridleways (on an OS map anyway) lead through or out of the site, so we ended up walking a mile or two back up the A road to get onto a good country walk. That said, in hindsight, we should have just driven out to the forest of dean right next door and walked to our hearts content.

What was great?
We have just retuned from a 5 day stay with Dr. Neil & co at his lovely farm. If you want peace and serenity then this is the place to be at, with beautiful scenery all around and lots of history in the area. Dr Neil is a lovely and most amiable man who can't do enough for you and all his animals are so cute. The facilities are unsophisticated but perfectly adequate but there is a store room with eggs, home made jams, goats cheese and lots of bits that you may have forgotten to bring with with you, a loan room with many items for you to borrow, a fridge for campers to store their perishables, lots of information on walks etc ........the list goes on. A thoroughly enjoyable holiday

Even better if....
Basically anything would have been an improvement but essentially the toilets needed cleaning, the brown finger marks on the toilet lid and the pipework were frankly disgusting. The little caravan that is hired out was well past its sell-by date and was not fit for purpose.
