Welcome to Nostell Priory Holiday Park

Nestling in a forest glade within the expansive grounds of the National Trusts Nostell Priory Estate in caravan sites Yorkshire, this park has been tastefully developed to provide residents of West Yorkshire with a relaxing environment in which to enjoy holiday home ownership and caravans for sale Yorkshire.

In static caravan sites Yorkshire you can imagine leaving work on a Friday evening, collecting the family, and arriving at your luxury holiday home before the sun goes down. Then relax, enjoy a glass of wine and watch the squirrels play as you unwind from the stresses of the working week. In the summer months you could even base yourself in the caravan, commuting to work, and content in the knowledge that your family is enjoying a luxury lifestyle in a safe healthy environment.

Touring

Nostell Priory Holiday Park offers a warm welcome to touring caravans, motor homes and tents. We are delighted to provide a beautifully appointed touring park in Yorkshire and caravan parks in Yorkshire, clean showers, toilets & electric hook up, so that you can enjoy the tranquility of the Nostell Estate with your touring caravan or tent. There is a small shop onsite and the park lies 1 mile from the Doncaster Road.

Holiday Home Owners Park

Nostell Priory Holiday Park is a private and secluded holiday home owners’ park which provides the perfect location for peace and tranquillity. Nestling amongst 340 acres of ancient woodland and adjacent to picturesque lakes, this park is the jewel in the Nostell Priory Estate for caravan holidays north Yorkshire. Most of our holiday home owners choose to keep their holiday homes for their own use, or for that of their families and close friends, preserving the very special atmosphere that our special park enjoys.

However there are a handful of caravan owners who are unable to visit as often as they might like and so have asked us to offer their homes for rent to discerning families who might also like to enjoy the wonderful surroundings of the park. These holiday homes are available for short or longer term rental – feel free to call us to check whether we have anything available right now.
As these caravans are privately owned each arrangement is tailored to suit the requirements of both the holiday maker and the caravan owner, thus we do not provide a fixed price list.

All caravans are Non Smoking and we do not provide linen or towels.

Imagine the pleasure of relaxing outside your very own holiday home... This is the life! Sip a chilled glass of wine in the afternoon sun, enjoy a bar-b-q as the birds sing in the trees around you, or walk arm in arm through the meadows and fishing lakes that provide the setting for this beautiful park.
Also available at Nostell is our very own hairdressing salon and a fully equipped laundrette.

Snack Shack & Woodside Retreat
Whilst priding ourselves on the peace & tranquillity that our park provides, from time to time we do let our hair down in the Woodside Retreat. This tasteful venue is ideal for summer BBQ’s, party’s and celebrations. Usually these are “bring a bottle” affairs where everyone contributes to the entertainment and the refreshments, in the spirit of community and friendship. There’s usually a few sore heads in the morning & what better remedy than a cup of tea and a bacon butty from our Snack Shack. The Snack Shack provides a range of delicious food and drink at reasonable prices throughout the weekend and the busier weeks. It provides a great meeting place for park users and on some warm afternoons/evenings you may even be treated to a performance from Dan on his guitar.

Laundrette
Many Caravan Holiday Homes are equipped with washer/dryers, however the park does provide a fully equipped and nicely presented laundry facility. This is available to all park users at a reasonable cost (coins are required).

Shop
Both our Reception and the Snack Shack double up as park shops, offering a range of basic staple products such as bread, milk and canned goods etc. We are also able to provide newspapers and other products upon request – just pop in and tell us what you like. We are always ready to help.

Security
Entrance to the private holiday home part of the park is via electronic gates, ensuring that only caravan owners and their guests can enter. Furthermore the park is protected by CCTV 24 hours per day. Our park warden is himself a caravan owner and is always available to help. Furthermore there is extra support from our professional security team that patrol periodically throughout every night.

Lounge
Just behind Reception is our owners Lounge, which contains our very popular book & DVD exchange. There is also a secure Wireless network too. So feel free to call in anytime for a cup of coffee and a chat or to take advantage of the free internet provision.

Bowling Green
Several years ago a group of our caravan owners formed a bowling league and with the support of the park, created a lovely bowling green within our grounds. This facility is maintained to a high standard and is available for all our customers to use whenever they like. With a few drinks, a BBQ and good company; it really is a lovely and relaxing way to spend a summer evening.

Out and About

Wakefield
The ancient town of Wakefield lies on the north bank of the river Calder, at a point where a principal road from the Midlands into the North is met by another coming in from the Pennine foothills to the west. It is a market town and administrative centre; it is the place which gives its name to a vast manor stretching up to the boundaries of Cheshire and Lancashire, and probably the largest such administrative unit in the country, whose prolific records, now partially printed, survive from 1274. Wakefield's ancient and essential position as a market town survives and is augmented by its two modern shopping centres, the Ridings and Trinity Walk, which, like the market, draw their customers from far beyond the town.

The first documentary reference to Wakefield, as so commonly occurs, is in the Domesday Book of 1086. The town became a partially self-governing borough perhaps before the first surviving borough charter of about 1190, and some of the medieval borough's records survive too, prior to the collapse of its jurisdiction in or about 1580. It became again a (now municipal) borough in 1848, a city in 1888, and a county borough in 1915, until absorbed into the new Wakefield Metropolitan District in 1974. It became a Parliamentary borough in 1832.

The medieval layout of Wakefield survives recognisably today, with surprisingly modest more modern amendments. The downstream half width of its stone bridge over the Calder was built from 1342, and on it is one of the few surviving bridge chantry chapels, although unfortunately this one was rebuilt above footway level in 1847-8. The town's great parish church, mirroring presumably its piety as well as its wealth, was completed in much of its present form after 1500, but altered, extended, and recased later. With its magnificent tower and spire, the highest in Yorkshire, it became in 1888 the cathedral church of the new Church of England Diocese for the Calder valley. That same year also saw the first provision of a modern water supply for Wakefield, and the establishment of the great West Riding County Council, which ultimately chose Wakefield as the site for its County Hall, opened in 1898.

Wakefield became in late medieval times a cloth finishing and merchanting centre which served a wide handloom weaving area, and increasingly, too, it was a raw wool merchanting centre; some of its cloth merchants' houses and its woolstaplers' warehouses survive. Along with Wakefield's predominance in corn merchanting and livestock dealing in the 19th century, factory based worsted spinning and woollen cloth weaving were developed in the town, and one important yarn-processing firm survives. Coal has been worked in the vicinity since at least Roman times, and from the 18th century and into recent decades it was an important product even of the town itself, not only giving much employment but also fostering the success of associated industries in engineering, boiler and steam economiser making, and ropemaking.

The Rough Guide to Britain named shopping in Leeds as one of the top thirty things to do in the UK, and with five miles of shopping streets and one of the country’s largest pedestrianised zones it’s easy to see why. Leeds also has an excellent nightlife scene, with numerous restaurants and independent bars, and is one of the UK’s best cities for dining out according to the Which? Good Food Guide.

A great sporting heritage is built around world-famous stadiums like Headingley and Elland Road, and there’s plenty to get involved in yourself too, from world-class golf to some of the country’s best mountain biking.

Leeds is the ideal gateway to the Yorkshire region – the Yorkshire Dales National Park is just 20 miles away, and features some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes. Yorkshire is the largest county in the UK, with incredible scenery from inspiring moorlands to stunning coastlines.

Leeds is a thriving, passionate city that you are sure to fall in love with. Rich in culture and heritage, it's a vibrant city with lots to discover and something for everyone to enjoy.

By day, the prosperous business centre offers a diverse range of working opportunities. The fast-paced, buzzing city centre is complemented by stunning local countryside, including the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, which lie within easy reach. There are also an assortment of flourishing local communities - from hidden gems in the inner suburbs to tranquil country towns on the outskirts.

By night, Leeds really comes alive with its wide array of restaurants, bars, clubs and other entertainment. There is a broad range of cultural attractions, including renowned theatre, opera and ballet companies, with something to appeal to every palate.

Sport remains central to city life, especially with the successes of the Rhinos in Rugby League and Leeds Carnegie in Rugby Union. The rugby sides share their home at Headingley Carnegie Stadium with Yorkshire County Cricket Club. Football fans around the world will be familiar with Leeds United and Elland Road. The club was promoted this year and is looking forward to starting next season in the Football League Championship.

Meadowhall

With over 270 stores, including all your favourite high street names, tempting cafe's and restaurant, a fascinating avenue of craftshops and an 11-screen cinema complex, no two trips to Meadowhall are ever the same. Thats not to mention a jam-packed entertainment programme, free car parking and excellent public transport links, whatever the weather... Meadowhall is a great day out.

Nostell Priory Estate

Nostell Priory was built by James Paine on the site of a medieval priory for Sir Rowland Winn, 4th baronet, in 1733. Later Robert Adam was commissioned to compete the state rooms which are among the finest examples of his interiors. The priory houses on of Englands best collections of Chippendale furniture, designed especially for the house by the great cabinet maker.

So, if you're looking for fashion, beauty, something for the house, or the latest gadget, we've probably got it right here. Free car parking and excellent public transport links, whatever the weather... White Rose is a great day out.
