Welcome to Oakfield Farm Campsite

For Camping in the beautiful East Sussex countryside, at the head of the Cuckmere valley, this 30 acre working farm is well placed for exploring the South Downs Country Park, The High Weald, Ashdown Forest, and the Sussex coast.

This East Sussex campsite has basic facilities, but there is a pub and a shop a five minute walk away and the market town of Hailsham is just 4 miles down the road.

Set in the tranquil Sussex countryide below the South Downs, at the head of the Cuckmere valley, this working farm has a variety of camping pitches or accomodation. Walking, cycling, or motoring, it is well placed for exploring the South Downs Country Park, the Ashdown Forest, The High Weald,and the Sussex coast.

We want our visitors to enjoy our countryside and just for a while to be able to get away from modern life and appreciate the nature all about. There are plenty of places to visit during the day, beautiful walks, the coast, the South Downs, ancient villages, country houses and gardens, and of course old pubs. Build your own campfire in the evening and toast marshmallows, print out a skymap and try to name the stars, or just be silent and hope to see our barn owl glide past

Vehicles are only allowed at the entrance field.
Well behaved dogs and children are allowed.

Arriving at Mill Farm forty years ago, from a neighbouring village, we are only too aware of how lucky we are to have been able to spend our lives here and now we want to be able to share our own little bit of heaven with others. Five years ago we took over the adjoining 30 acre Oakfield Farm together with its small herd of Guernsey cows. This farm had changed very little since the 1940's. Though the milking herd has now gone we still milk Pansy every morning and would be pleased to give a demonstration to anyone interested on Sundays at 8am. When we have spare milk we make our own butter and cream. You will see our beef cattle with their young grazing the fields. At Mill Farm we used to rear pigs, but now only keep four at a time to produce our own pork and sausages.

This is Basic Camping, so don't expect modern comforts ( we do have clean flush loos with handwash sinks).

No cars allowed in camping fields except for loading or unloading. It is a couple of minutes walk to the sites.

Directions

One hour south of the M25 down the A22. Seven mile down from Uckfield or 11 mile up from Eastbourne. At the Golden Cross Inn turn south down Chalvington Road. Entrance to Oakfield Farm is just 100 yards on the left, and entrance gate to campsite is another 200m down the lane. (NOT the Old Mill Caravan Park which is opposite on the Right and is not us!)

Sat-Nav: Post Code BN27 3ST will take you 100metres too far down Chalvington Road,
and some sat-navs and maps mistakenly call us 'Sheepcote Lane'

By Train to Berwick Station, if you are taking a taxi don't let them drop you at Oakfield Fm in Chalvington village instead of Oakfield Fm Chalvington Road Golden Cross!!!!
