Welcome to Overstrand Campsite

Overstrand Campsite, near Cromer, on the North Norfolk Coast boasts Norfolk's most amazing campsite views where you can hire one of our great value self catering, fully equipped euro-tents or bring your own tent.

Our location is amazing, with wonderful coastal views for all tents and golden sandy beaches on your doorstep.
The sunsets are truly spectacular and with no light pollution the night skies can be stunning. Campers can often be found laying on the grass staring at the stars.

If you are looking for beach campsites, our site at Overstrand is one of the best. Situated on the cliff top at Overstrand, just two miles along the Norfolk Coast from Cromer the campsite enjoys access to miles of golden sandy beaches just a tiny walk from your tent.

We promote a family friendly chilled out ethos and as we camp onsite are always on hand should you need any help or advice.

We only open for 60 days in July and August but we certainly make the most of what we are allowed.

We have a cafe during the school holiday period serving good value breakfasts and evening meals, a tuck shop, cycle hire, pool table, table tennis, table football and other traditional games.

With fantastic views out to sea and along the coast towards Cromer our tent pitches provide idylic camping for campers only - there are no caravans here.

A Tent Camping Site

With a warm and welcoming atmosphere our small cliff top campsite turns itself on every July and August before switching back to its winter state within a matter of days!

Having camped for many years running this summer site in such an idylic spot is a real joy. When the weather is good I don't thing we would rather be anywhere else, so come along and find out why we have been nominated into the top 5 coastal campsite in the country.
Overstrand Campsite is a tents only campsite - proper camping for proper campers. Open for just July and August our campsite prides itself on its friendly vibe and helpful staff who camp on site and are on hand should our guests need any help or advice.

Overstrand campsite is on the edge of the attractive coastal village of Overstrand, situated on a cliff top position overlooking wide sandy beaches. Campers visit our site to enjoy the beautiful views of the sea and beach below as well as the relaxed campsite atmosphere.

Alongside the campsite there is a cliff top path which takes you into the famous seaside town of Cromer, about one and a half miles away.

With many popular tourist attractions throughout Norfolk, Overstrand Campsite is the perfect base for a family holiday, if you can bear to tear yourself away from the beach.

Tent Pitches

We have three different tent pitches tariffs based on size, all of which can be booked online.
Our tents only campsite enjoys a cool camping atmosphere with people outside enjoying the summer evenings, BBQs and games.On the site we only have 38 camping pitches. Of the three pitch sizes, the smallest pitches along the cliff top enjoy the best view but because they are for small tents only everyone behind doesn't get their view blocked out.

Most of our family pitches are set back from the cliff but also enjoy a fantastic view. The family pitches are suitable for most tents (and not just families) but for oversized tents we have a few extra large family pitches.
What happens if my tent is too big?
We don’t like having to do this but if your tent is too big, especially too tall, you will not be allowed to pitch it on the small cliff top pitches. If we have a family pitch available you will be offered that as an alternative but on most occasions this will not be possible as the family pitches book up early in the season. If your tent is too big/tall and we do not have a family pitch available then you will be asked to leave the site and you will not receive a refund. Sorry we have been forced to do this but a few people took advantage of our good natures last year and pitched large tents on the small tent pitches upsetting many of the lovely people on the family sized pitches behind them.

Small Cliff Top Tent Pitch
A smaller pitch in a prime position on the cliff top. No bigger than 3m x 3m. Rule of thumb: if you can stand up in the tent then it is too big. Family pitches are needed for bigger tents, please select this if necessary. Extra large pitches are also available.

Full payment will be required for all camping bookings at the time of booking. All major credit and debit cards accepted except American Express. We will refund 100% of the sale value for written cancellation more than 8 weeks before your arrival date less an administration fee of £25. We do not offer refunds for cancellations within 8 weeks of the arrival date.

No gazebos or shelters are not permitted.
No caravans, motorhomes and campervans are permitted. Trailer tents are allowed.
No campfires. Off ground BBQs are permitted provided you only burn charcoal.

Family Tent Pitch
For most tent types up to a 6m x 6m (approximately). Larger tents including the big Outwell tents and multiple pod tents will need a large family pitch, please select this if necessary. Smaller tents, up to three or small four man may prefer to book a cliff top pitch. (Choose your pitch type from the dropdown box below)

Facilities

Overstrand is a tent friendly camping site, we do not have anything but tents. With just tent people camping we have a great onsite camping atmosphere. We are a bit different because we only open for a couple of summer months yet we pack in quite a bit but if you are expecting a full on holiday park that's not really what we are about, we a tent camping site.

We provide some cool things on the campsite for our tenters to do and with the help of your feedback we continue to develop new ideas. We do try to stay clear of providing you with what you have at home such as video games and TV since this was what our founding customers really liked about the place and what we as a tent camping people love getting away from.

The Cabin
This is exactly what it says it is, imaginatively named, it's a large cabin on the campsite. The Cabin building is home to our reception, cafe and pool table.

Feel free to come in and play a game or just enjoy a coffee and somewhere to sit and read a book or chat. We have leaflets and local information available and one of the Campsite team can normally be found in here should you need anything. You are welcome to use the sockets in The Cabin for charging mobile devices.

Cafe
The cafe part is open for cooked meals from 23 July until 27th August, serving hearty breakfasts and evening meals with snacks, cold drinks, tea, coffee, ice creams and much more available during the day.

Our deserts were particularly popular last year.

Games Room
Our games room is a pretty simple affair but has a free table tennis table and football table to use. We do charge a nominal deposit for bats and balls to make sure they come back.

Cycle Hire
Cycles can be hired on the site. With Norfolk's Quiet Lanes network on your doorstep it is a great place for cyclists with some beautiful scenery and it is largely flat (once over the hill behind the campsite). Our cycles come with a pannier bag, safety helmet, repair kit, pump, map holder and map. Just see us onsite and we can sort out your cycle hire on a hourly,daily,short break or weekly basis.

Playground
There is a playground adjacent to the campsite which is not ours but is run by a charity group. It has swings, slide, roundabout, climbing frames and a few other things.

Washing Up Area
Our washing up room is inside another cabin. There are a couple of sockets in here to charge you phone whilst you do your chores. We also have a washing machine available should you need one.

Freezer Blocks
In The Cabin is a free to use freezer for re-freezing your ice blocks.

Tent Campsite Site People
Unusually, our family and staff camp on the site in their own tents too, so if the weather is rough we are in it together and likewise we appreciate a beautiful sunny day by the sea. Being tent camping people we get camping and are willing to help should you need it.

Out and About

North Norfolk has a mass of wonderful coastal scenery and is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and rightly so. From where we are there is a beautiful coastal walk into Cromer or relatively empty wide sandy beaches to enjoy. The fine sand is great fun for buckets and spades, sand castles, beach cricket and all those other wonderful seaside memories.
Overstrand beaches suit dog lovers and dog non lovers. To one side of the campsite the beach is dog friendly and to the other dogs are prohibited. Being a dog friendly campsite this is obviously a great place for everyone to enjoy - dog lovers or not. Unlike the more well known coastal areas of the South West, Norfolk's beaches are pretty deserted.
The village grew up around its fishing industry, you can still see fishermen and their catches on the beach. The beauty of Overstrand attracted many of the rich and famous to build some grand and unusual properties which lead to it being nicknamed "the village of millionaires". The village has a well stocked shop, post office, pub and cliff top cafe.

The village of Overstrand is just a few minutes walk from the campsite and has a pub serving food, a well stocked village shop, ice cream van, fresh fish stall and on a Thursday morning a fantastic boot sale.

Cromer is about a mile and a half away and the walk along the beach or via the cliff top path is a must.
Cromer has many shops, eating places, amusements and a pier hosting summer seaside special end of the pier shows.

We do realise only being open in July and August is unusual but it is all we are allowed. Late arrivals are not a problem as we realise people get delayed leaving home, stuck in traffic etc.
