Welcome to Penpont Caravan Park

We have a small licensed caravan and camping holiday park in the village of Penpont in rural Nith Valley in the Dumfries & Galloway region of Scotland, fourteen miles north of Dumfries and two miles west of Thornhill Village on the A702. We are on the left just before Penpont Village.

Here at Penpont we can accommodate touring caravans, motor homes and tents with electric hook-ups available. A shower block and laundry facilities including a washing machine and dryer are also available at the caravan park.

Also at Penpont Caravan and Camping we have privately owned holiday homes, park owned caravans for hire and static caravans for sale.

Dumfries & Galloway is known as Scotland's best kept secret with over 200 miles of coastline, wild mountains & moorlands, pretty towns, charming villages such as Penpont and a great network of touring roads giving holiday makers all the scope and choice for an exhilarating activity holiday or a refreshing short break at our beautiful caravan park.

About Penpont Floors

Penpont Floors Caravan and Camping Park is peaceful and tranquil with no bars or clubs within the park to disturb owners or guests, allowing them to enjoy their surroundings and escape the hustle and bustle of city life.

The caravan parks location provides an ideal base as there are many golf courses and fishing lakes close by as well as the river Nith and great cycling routes at both Drumlanrig and the Forest of Ae. All in easy reach and in the beautiful surroundings that is Dumfries and Galloway.

A 12 month holiday licence is now in operation for all static caravan owners.

The caravan park has no bars or clubs, ideal for people who want to get away from it all and relax.

Many golf courses, fishing lakes and cycle routes nearby.

Tranquil walks in the surrounding areas.

Only 14 miles from Dumfries and around 60 miles from both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Facilities

Here at Penpont Floors Caravan and Camping Park you will receive a warm and friendly welcome and escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We have great facilities for our campers and visiting touring caravans with free hot showers, toilets and a laundry room with dish washing facilities and a washer and dryer.

We have electric hook-ups available for both tourers and tents and hard stands for caravans and motorhomes as well as a half acre tent field nestled along side the river Scaur.

Within the village of Penpont there is a tearoom, post office, village store to get your essentials as well as a children's play area.

Just 2 miles away in Thornhill there is a wider range of shops, local pubs/restaurants and takeaways catering for all your needs.

Penpont Floors is proud to have been awarded a Scottish Tourist Board 3 Star Rating.

Golfing

The Home of Golf has a stunning array of amazing golf courses. “A good walk spoilt” is one description, and sometimes you can see why. A golf course is in essence a piece of landscape with wide sweeping fairways to wander down, it is the frustration of trying to hit a small ball around it and into a series of holes that can be a cause for frustration and great joy.

Fishing

Dumfries & Galloway offers a range of excellent game angling at reasonable costs. The areas rivers drain into the Solway Firth and provides quality sport for anglers of all abilities.

The River Nith is arguably the most fruitful of the Solway rivers. It offers excellent sport for anglers of all abilities and experience.

When you have experienced what the local rivers have to offer, we think that like the salmon, you will have an inescapable urge to return to the rivers over and over again.

Walking

You'll have a hard choice to make when looking for walks in Dumfries and Galloway with the assortment of choice available. Miles of craggy coastline and shores, boundless deep forests, moors, hills and mountain paths to suit all capability.

The highest of the peaks White Coomb, 2,696 feet. The Moffat Hills is in all probability one of the most prominent walking areas in Dumfries and Galloway. With the popular town of Moffat nestled among some of the most impressive hills in southern Scotland. Hartfell, which is the next highet peak in the area. The Devil's Beeftub and the Grey Mare's Tail are also popular.

There are several 'Walking Festivals' each year and each led by knowledgeable locals who not only know the trails but can bring the past to life with folktails and local lore.

At Drumlanrig Castle there are walks for all users from a short all-ability path around Druids Loch to Mount Malloch. However with a map and compass (and the ability to use it), suitable clothing and footwear, a full day's walking can be enjoyed following miles of paths that criss cross the Queensberry Estate, covering a large part of Dumfries & Galloway.

Cycling

Dumfries & Galloway is covered by 450 miles of signposted cycle routes.

There are two National Cycle Network routes in the region. National Cycle Route 7 covers 114 miles in Dumfries and Galloway, passing through Gretna Green, Annan, Dumfries, Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright, Gatehouse of Fleet, Newton Stewart.

National Cycle Route 74 runs for 44 miles and connects Route 7 to South Lanarkshire.

The National Byway is a signed network on rural lanes and roads. The Byway runs for 194 miles in Dumfries and Galloway, taking in attractive countryside, heritage sites and places of interest. This also passes through Langholm, Lockerbie, Ecclefechan, Annan, Dumfries, Moniaive, St John's Town of Dalry, Clatteringshaws and Newton Stewart, before following National Cycle Route 7.

There are also four signposted routes in the Machars peninsula in Galloway, its low-level landscape is ideal for cycling.
