Welcome to Pensagillas Park

Pensagillas is the home of the Kent family and it has been in our possession for 6 generations. Pensagillas is our family home and we take pride in everything we do. Cleanliness and tidiness prevail throughout the park. A tarmac roadway connect the meadows where the grass is closely mown. Mature and young trees, together with young hedging, and shrubs all add to the landscaping. Within this website you will find a wealth of information on what we have to offer, from staying on our beautiful campsite, Fishing in our 2 and a half acre lake.

Tents & Touring

Campers and caravanners have been staying at Pensagillas campsite since 1970. The main campsite is a 5 acre field situated at the end of a private drive with stunning unspoilt views over the countryside. Whether you are camping, in a caravan or motorhome, you can enjoy the sights of the farm and views over rural Cornwall from your window.

Pensagillas Park is the perfect place for Adults and Children to relax and unwind on holiday. Enjoy the farm animals, open meadows, and woodlands. Explore our course fishing lakes, or the countryside sea and beaches. A perfect location for a family holiday, or a welcome adult break, offering plenty of activities for the children and the historical, natural beauty of Cornwall.

Fishing - A lake stocked with carp tench golden rudd and bream within an easy walk.

We have put in some hardstandings and a tarmac track to make it easier for our guests, whatever the weather. Along side the pitches you will find electric hooks ups and fresh water close by. Our shower block which includes a laundry room with washing and drying facilities also has a covered outdoor area with large sinks for doing the washing up. On the other side of the drive our farmland continues - where you are welcome to walk and explore. There are some set footpaths or you can just walk through the fields. Down by the stream at the old mill is a great place for a picnic - it's a beautiful spot. You can also do a spot of fishing here as well. We have a notice board and leaflets where you can find out about local attractions and things to do if you fancy a day out. If you're a dog owner there are some really nice walks.

Local Attractions

There are many fantastic attractions within minutes of our holiday park!

The Pentewan Valley Cycle Trial - joining the national cycle trial, linking St. Austell to Pentewan and Heligan Gardens. It runs along a picturesque valley, where cycles can be hired by the hour, flat and easy going for beginners and experts alike. It runs along a river right into Pentewan itself, with an excellent beach, a few local shops and a St. Austell Ales pub (for connoisseurs of real ale). Pentewan is also the home of a sailing club, which specialises in small dinghy's.

Heligan Gardens - not to be missed by garden lovers, these lost gardens were re-found some years ago, and are constantly being added to and refurbished, using plans going back a great many years. This was the first cornish works undertaken by Tim Smit of Eden Project fame.

Mevagissey - An old Cornish fishing port, a lovely place to view the sea, and get a whiff of fish in the air, very narrow roads, (does get congested, but is well worth the visit) and savour cornish fish and chips, or for the more gourmetically minded, there are several really good fish restaurants. Also a model railway and an aquarium. Cliff walks are a must to blow away the stress of an upcountry lifestyle.

St. Austell - old market town, is in actual fact larger than Truro (the capital of Cornwall), and is currently going complete regeneration.. a place to visit and view the changes over the coming years, as it creeps ahead at it's own Cornish pace.

The Eden Project - world renowned domes, and a place not to be missed. Constantly changing and improving, most people go back time and time again.

Fowey - Once the haven of smugglers and larger tall ships, now one of the major china clay ports, offers beautiful views and many wonderful gift shops. In the area of Daphne Du Murier and mentioned in several of her books. Cruise ships have just started to call on this old port, and it hosts the Royal Fowey Yacht Club, great for those with a bigger boat!

Also Nearby, are the "Places that dreams are made of". The historic Port of Charlestown often used in films such as the Onedin Line and more recently Walt Disney's 'Three Musketeers'. The famous Bodmin Moor which inspired Daphne du Mauriers book 'Jamaica Inn and many superb sandy beaches .

From Pensagillas Park the whole of Cornwall is within easy reach!

Fishing

Here at Mellonwatts Mill we take pride in giving the very best, to keen fishermen from novice to advanced. Mellonwatts Mill was established in 1985 and is situated by an old mill which dates back to the early 18th century and some of the old mill can still be seen, to this day. The lake is set in beautiful surroundings and is approx 2 acres in size. We have a very good selection of fish such as Carp, Roach, Tench and Golden Rudd, which have now grown to a very juicy size. We have recently added some more mirror and common carp to our existing stock.

The Carp range from 1lb to 28lb in weight. We are open all year round, prices start from £5.00 per day. There is good car parking facilities, clean toilets and refreshments can be supplied if pre-arranged. The lakes are only a few hundred yards away from the campsite so you can have a really interesting holiday combining your passion and holiday together.

Directions

Directions - M5 - off at J31 to Okehampton / Exeter On to the A30 - stay on for about 70 miles take first exit left for St.Austell Go through bugle until you come to a mini roundabout, straight over. Coming in to St, Austell round sharp right hand bend, go through 2 x sets of traffic lights. At T Junction, turn right for Truro (A390) Follow this road for approx 2-3 miles and fork left for the B3287 (the sign should say Tregony on it) Follow this road for 2 miles At the end of the road is a T junction turn left at this junction. Follow this road for 1 mile You will see the sign for Pensagillas at the end of the drive. Turn right into the drive and the campsite is a few hundred yards down the drive on the left
