Welcome to Sea Barn Camping Park

Sea Barn Farm is probably the most beautiful licensed camping park in Dorset - and some say one of the top 10 in Britain as well. Its spectacular views of the Fleet Lagoon, Lyme Bay and Jurassic Coast are breathtaking. Add the permanent facilities you’d expect of an established AA Graded three pennant holiday park and you’ve got all you need for a great holiday or short break.

Sea Barn Farm is in a uniquely beautiful location, with panoramic views of the Fleet Lagoon, Lyme Bay, Chesil Bank and Isle of Portland.

The park is part of a 140 acre working farm which runs right down to the Fleet Lagoon - an internationally protected nature reserve and wildfowl haven. Sea Barn Farm camping area is just 500 metres from the Fleet shore and is a park for the more discerning camper who loves great scenery and appreciates a more peaceful approach to camping, but you also have the option of using the clubhouse and swimming pool at West Fleet Farm, only 10 minutes walk away.

Sea Barn Farm is a favourite for tent camping families, couples, cyclists, walkers, bird watchers, fishermen, climbers and divers. It also provides a great base to explore all the attractions Dorset has to offer.

Facilities

Sea Barn Farm is a licensed camping park, so you’ll find everything you need for an enjoyable holiday - no matter how long your stay, including a Clubhouse/Bar* and swimming pool*.

We cater for tents, trailer-tents and motor-homes accompanied by tents or awnings. We regret we cannot accept caravans, but are pleased to recommend Bagwell Farm Touring Park.

Sea Barn Farm offers a choice of tent pitches including some with electric hook-ups as well as standard pitches with spectacular views.

There are permanent shower and toilet facilities, washing up points and a fully equipped laundrette.

There’s a play area with swings, slides and other play equipment.

And if you fancy a beer or a break from self-catering, then pop across to the “Bar in the Barn” at West Fleet Farm, where you can also use the outdoor heated pool!

Sea Barn Farm has an onsite shop and off-licence, carrying groceries, wines, beers, toys, knick-knacks and newspapers. We also stock camping gas and hardware.

Pool

Campers at Sea Barn Farm have the full use of facilities at West Fleet Holiday Farm, including the outdoor heated swimming pool.

The swimming pool is a popular attraction to users of both Sea Barn and West Fleet Farms.

Open every day in the peak season (regardless of the weather) it’s great fun for children and adults alike and a great way to cool off on hot summer days.

Outside of the peak season the pool is opened depending on the weather and the time of year.

The pool is a parental supervision area, where parents are responsible for the safety of their children.

No children are allowed in the pool area without a responsible adult and all users must comply with the “rules of the pool” which are there for your safety and that of other swimmers. All pool users must familiarise themselves with the rules and stick to them!

Bar

Campers at Sea Barn Farm have the full use of facilities at West Fleet Holiday Farm, just a short walk away. The Bar in the Barn offers a fully licensed bar, tasty meals and entertainment and was almost completely rebuilt in 2012. The all new Bar in the Barn, is bigger and better, but retains much of the character of the old building that regular visitors know and love so well!

The Bar in the Barn at West Fleet Farm opens daily in the high season. Sitting on the edge of the camping park, it offers a friendly pub-bar atmosphere with separate eating area. There is also a beer garden overlooking the children’s play area.

The Bar in the Barn provides a spacious yet atmospheric venue for a meal, light snack or drink. You can also enjoy our peak-season programme of children’s entertainment, discos and live-music.

Pop in for a drink, or give your cook a break and treat yourselves to a meal.

You’ll find great food from traditional bar snacks to the more exotic.

We offer home-produced steaks, burgers and beef dishes. Steaks come from the family’s herd of pedigree Charolais cattle, reared slowly and grazed locally, we doubt you’ll find better!

And now the Bar in the Barn is even better, serving barista coffee and offering Wi-Fi broadband!

For Families

Sea Barn Farm is a great place for a family holiday or short break. As well as the many local attractions, there’s plenty of space and things to do on site.

At Sea Barn Farm, if your can drag yourself away from the breathtaking views, you’ll find space to run around and a children’s play area (parental supervision) for kids to enjoy the open air. You can also use the outdoor heated pool at West Fleet Farm (parental supervision).

For those who want to make the most of the surroundings there are private walks joining to the South West Coast Path and a network of local public footpaths. Choose between a relaxing walk along the unique shoreline of the Fleet Lagoon, just 500 metres away or take a woodland walk to nearby Langton Herring.

A firm favourite with many visitors is the circular walk from the camping park down to, and along, the the Fleet shore and then back to the camping park. It takes in two of the most stunning views of the Fleet looking East and West. And takes less than an hour. Others choose just to walk the short distance down to the Fleet and back again.

Either way, you’ll find its a great way to see some of Dorset’s most spectacular countryside and seascapes and great family-exercise!

For more adventurous walkers you could ramble to the picturesque village of Abbotsbury to the West or the ruggedly beautiful Isle of Portland to the East. Both of which are on the South West Coast Path that runs along the shore of the Fleet.

We have permanent toilets, showers and washing facilities. We also have a laundry with washers and dryers, a shop, bar* and clubhouse*. (*peak season only) (clubhouse at West Fleet Farm)

Yes the water from the stand pipes around the site is drinking water.

Parking
Yes you can park your car by your tent.

Views
There are fantastic views of the sea from Sea Barn Farm. You can also see the Chesil Beach. The beach itself is separated from the mainland by the Fleet Lagoon which stretches from Portland to Abbotsbury.

Access to the Fleet Shore
You can get to the shore of the Fleet (an inland stretch of water open to the sea) from Sea Barn Farm. There are several paths from the camping park to the Fleet and, depending on how fast you walk, takes 5 to 10 minutes.

Swimming
Swimming is not recommended from Chesil Beach. It is dangerous. Go to Weymouth Bay or West Bay instead. Chesil Beach is best for fishing, walking and just sitting and watching! You can, of course, swim in the West Fleet heated pool.

Fishing
You are not allowed to fish in the Fleet Lagoon. It is an important nature reserve and only people with a licence are allowed to fish in it. At some times of year you will see local fishermen setting nets in pursuit of fish but, especially, eels. This is a tradition that is probably centuries old.

Fishing
You can fish off the Chesil Beach (you will need to go to Portland or Abbotsbury to do so). Many locals enjoy fishing for mackerel and other species off the Chesil Bank. Some have boats along the Fleet Shore which they are allowed to use to cross the Fleet. You have to have a licence to use any boat on the Fleet. There is an outright ban on sails and motors.

Boats
You can’t take boats or canoes on the Fleet. But if you are heading to Weymouth, Portland or West Bay (Bridport) or anywhere else with your watercraft, you are welcome to stay at Sea Barn Farm.

Directions

Sea Barn Farm sits on top of a hill overlooking the World Heritage “Jurassic Coast”, the Fleet Lagoon, Lyme Bay and magnificent countryside. This licensed camping park is in the village of Fleet, near Chickerell, Weymouth and is a great base to explore Dorset.

Sea Barn Farm is West of Weymouth, in the village of Fleet, near Chickerell.

Via the A354 from Dorchester to Weymouth, follow signs for Abbotsbury, Portesham and the B3157. Pass Chickerell and turn left at the mini roundabout to Fleet. Pass Fleet Church on the right and continue to the top of the hill. At a small crossroads, turn left to Sea Barn Farm.

We can also be reached from the West via the B3157 from Bridport and Portesham.

Weymouth is linked to London and Bristol by rail.

The X53 bus stops in Chickerell.

We are also clearly sign posted from the South West Coast Path.

Due to Sea Barn Farm’s rural location, Satellite Navigation systems are not always reliable and we advise customers to consult a map before departure. As postcode areas in rural locations can be large we recommend entering “Sea Barn Farm, Fleet Road, DT3 4ED”. Do not just rely on the postcode.
