A new season is approaching and Swattesfield is busy setting up some special changes. For 2013 we’re offering three boutique Bell-tents; complete with ever-so-comfy double beds and warming stoves - ideal for a couple, a family or a group if you book all together.
Even more ‘glampy’ are our fantastic Log Cabins - these are really cosy with a small kitchen, double bed, sofa, table and chairs and even TV & DVD.
We’re getting loads of enquiries and now we’re officially ‘cool’ (we proud to be included in the latest edition of the Cool Camping Guide!) we anticipate even more so do book early!
Luxurious Log Cabin Camping
If traditional camping is not for you then you’ll love our lovely Log Cabins, with King sized beds, self-catering kitchen, dining table and chairs and TV/DVD all with views out to the Suffolk countryside!
This is a real treat - to be in the middle of the countryside, with walks and pubs all around and yet still have a warm, cosy log cabin to come back to! New for 2013 are two self-contained cabins with more creature comforts than you’d ever expect!
All your needs
...catered for. With a king sized bed, plus sleeping facilities for a further two children these cabins are ideal for a quiet couples getaway or a cosy family break.
Outside, there’s a open fire pit for enjoying or cooking on, a large picnic bench and your exclusive garden space.
Inside there is a small kitchen with cooking facilities, sink and fridge. TV&DVD player, dining table and chairs in fact almost home in the country. The toilets and hot showers are in our clean shower block and we have a small shop.
Swattesfield campsite is ideally located in North Suffolk, with way marked walks directly accessed from the site, fishing lakes, pubs and a cafe and restaurant all within walking distance; and 50ish minutes to the coast including Southwold and Aldeburgh. Norwich City with it’s Norman castle and extensive shops is 40 minutes drive OR just relax on site!
Comfy Boutique Bell Tents
New for 2013 are three wonderfully luxurious Bell Tents, each with comfy beds, coir carpet and your own outside kitchen all set in the heart of the Suffolk contryside…
Whats to know?
There are three Bell Tents available to rent all large 5 metres in size and each able to accommodate two to four people. Each tent is equipped with a cosy and comfy double bed, the mattress are made from memory foam and there’s coir matting for extra comfort and warmth.
We supply all your cooking facilities including pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. There’s an outdoor kitchen a large picnic table and firepit to sit around in the evenings or to cook on.
The whole of the tent has thick, warm Coir matting and there are further throws and cushions for added comfort.
Swattesfield Campsite itself is ideally situated with direct access to 12 miles of way marked walks at Thornham Walks, with it’s play area and local pubs and restaurant.

Bring your tent and enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings of Swattesfield Campsite - though we’d always recommend you book in advance :)
Facilities
Swattesfield Campsite is a very natural site set in the country side of north Suffolk. Fortunately it doesn’t mean you have to give up all your creature comforts, we have a clean his and hers toilet block each with wash facilities and a hot shower.
Outside there is a simple food prep area with large sinks and a few utensils to help food preparation.
We do allow fires in our own supplied fire pits and have kindling and reasonably priced wood to buy with foraging on our site only, also allowed.
We’re always looking to ensure the campsite is accommodating in a sustainable way and would encourage all campers to reduce waste and to recycle using the onsite facilities.
Swattesfield Camp is a peaceful countryside campsite and so we kindly ask all campers to respect this and other campers by keeping noise and disturbance down, especially after 10pm - thank you!
Rent a Tent at Swattesfield Camp
Pre-pitched tents are an easier option. Leave it to us to provide and pitch your tent. Reasonably priced and able to cater for most campers - booking is required for this.

To find the campsite from the A140, follow the signs to the Thornham Walks and continue past the Walks entrance, continuing along Gislingham Road for about a mile and then turn right soon after seeing a 'school' sign and 'Slow' marked on the road – there is a Swattesfield Campsite sign marking the entrance on the right. And if you're travelling through Gislingham, exit the village past the Church and towards Thornham Magna, about 1/2 mile out of the village and soon after travelling under a train tunnel you will see a 'school' sign and 'Slow' marked on the road – there is a Swattesfield Campsite sign marking the entrance on the left.
