What was great?
We are avid walkers and stayed here as a base for walks in the cheviots and Holy Island. We have a double tent, nothing fancy, but there were families with larger tents and caravans. The site itself has serene and beautiful environs. There's very clean showers and toilets and even an information room. The highlight of our visit was Holy Island, which is a 10 minute drive away from the site. The road to the island gets covered by the North Sea twice a day, so you have to check tide times. Even better if....
Plan to stay more than one night. This is a convenient base for the beautiful county of Northumberland. Or, you want to combine it with more time on Holy Island, book a night at the campsite at Barn at Beal, on the mainland side of the causeway.
