Welcome to Widdicombe Farm Touring Park

Widdicombe farm is a family run, fully licensed adult only Touring Park. Set in 8 acres of our lovely 615 acre farmland, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is actually the only Touring Park within the boundary of Torquay.

There are no winding narrow country lanes to negotiate so no tiresome reversing if ou should meet other traffic on the way to our park.

Because our site is family owned and run we live within our park, we are able to offer you a friendly and personal service, plus of course supervision by day and peaceful nights. Consequently we do have many repeat bookings from people who have visited us previously (they say it's like home from home). Therefore we strongly advise booking in advance.

The Hayloft Bar is very popular offering a good selection of beers, wines and ciders, etc. Over the Easter and then Spring Bank Holiday to the end of September there is also live entertainment several nights a week. We feel sure you will enjoy these memorable evenings meeting up with old friends and making new ones.

We offer quality home cooked meals in Poppies Licensed Restaurant from Easter to the end of September so you can choose to relax and let someone else cook you your evening meal or Sunday lunch. The restaurant has a lovely cosy, friendly atmosphere and provides meals or takeaways for great value prices.

Our enthusiastic office team are here waiting with pens poised in anticipation of your telephone call. They will take your booking for that personal one to one contact we know you will appreciate.

Each pitch is individually marked for guaranteed advance booking.

There are plenty of WATER AND DISPOSAL POINTS throughout the site.

Poppies Restaurant and shop We offer homemade cooked evening meals and Sunday lunches, which are great value for money. Takeaway service also available. Open Easter to end of September

Our friendly self-service shop sells daily papers, groceries, calor and camping gas, etc.

The Launderette is located at our central building. Fully equipped with coin-operated washing machines, tumble dryers, irons and ironing boards. A large sink for hand clothes washing and spin dryer. We also offer a Free freezer pack service.

This service is available Monday to Friday from Widdicombe Farm to Torquay Harbour and return back to Widdicombe Farm. (Minimum 10 people required to use this service). There is also a bus stop at the entrance to our park where the No.67 Flyer leaves hourly daily (except Sundays and Bank Holidays). The service will take you to Torquay/Newton Road, The Willows and Brixham.
DOG OWNERS

Dog exercise field is provided for your dog(s).

However well trained your dog(s) may be, they must be kept on a lead at all times and not allowed to wander on the road or to other pitches even if those pitches are unoccupied.

Please do not allow your dog(s) to foul any part of the park except the dog field which, we specifically provide for this purpose, where you must pick up and dispose of in the bin provided.

If your pitch is a distance from the dog field you may drive up and park in our car park opposite reception whilst exercising your dog(s).

The storage area is STRICTLY PRIVATE and only staff are allowed in, please do not exercise your dog(s) there.

We have always welcomed well-behaved dogs at Widdicombe Farm and it is with your help that we will continue to do so.

STORAGE

Storage available for caravans up to 24'. There is a small tow-on / tow-off charge for this service.

Minimum 2 x 1 week holiday breaks are required to be able to store your caravan. Yearly, Summer or Winter storage is available. Please enquire with reception for prices and terms.

Local storage may also be available but space is limited, please enquire with reception. Please telephone 01803 558325 for more details should you want to store your caravan with us.

Entertainment - Olde Hayloft Bar

Our park boasts an excellent very popular bar with quality entertainment. It has a small dance floor, and is all very comfortably furnished.

A large selection of wines, spirits, beers and ciders are reasonably priced. We have a superb line up of top class live entertainment during Easter week and Spring Bank – end of September, plus Quiz, Bingo and Karaoke.

Holiday Caravans (to let)

We have 3 holiday caravans to let, these are 28’ x 10’. With own decking for you to sit out on and each caravan is surrounded by fencing for your privacy. These are situated in a small secluded and hedged field used exclusively for the three caravans.

This field is adjacent to our touring park. You are welcome to use the Park's facilities such as the shop, restaurant, laundry room and Clubhouse etc are fully available for your use.

Please note: some facilities may not be available very early or late season, please check for availability to avoid disappointment.

The caravans have a lounge/ diner, colour TV, Gas heating. Two bedrooms with the lounge converting to a double bed, making it possible to sleep six. Bedroom 1 has a double bed and wardrobe fitment. Bedroom 2 has twin single beds and wardrobe fitment

The kitchen is fully fitted with stainless steel sink unit, full size cooker, fridge, Microwave, kettle and toaster. The shower room contains a cubicle shower, wash -basin and toilet.

The caravans are fully equipped, with duvets, pillows, crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Linen is provided, but you must bring your own towels, tablecloths, tea towels etc.

Electric and Gas are FREE No Meters.

These caravans are not suitable for persons with walking difficulties as the approach is by 15 steps from the private parking area.

We recommend these caravans for a peaceful holiday in the country, yet within minutes you can be in Torquay, Paignton or Brixham, enjoying the holiday atmosphere. (Note: It is a good 20 mins walk from a bus route, so a car is preferable)

Access Statement For Widdicombe Farm Touring Park

Introduction

Widdicombe Farm is located in an area called Compton and is set in 8 acres. We strive to ensure that all visitors can enjoy the accommodation, facilities and surroundings within the park. Our aim is to help in anyway that we can if you require assistance during your stay or whilst planning your visit we will be delighted to assist. Our current facilities and services offered are:

Pre-Arrival

We cater for tents, touring caravans, motorhomes and we have caravans for hire.
Our brochure is available in large print and we can post a copy of this access statement if required.
We offer email, text direct and staff always accept Type Talk calls.
Our nearest town is Torquay located 2 miles away, which has a train and bus station, both with taxi ranks.
The public bus transport stop is located 1483 meters (just under 1 mile) outside our park which is approximately 25–30 mins walking.
During busy periods we may be able to use a ring and ride type bus service that picks up from within the park outside the Hayloft Bar.
Our nearest shop mobility is adjacent to Torquay Library, Lymington Road, Torquay. Tel: 01803 380982. There are shop mobility services in Paignton and Brixham.
The local taxi company can take only the fold-down type wheelchair.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

As you drive onto our park you will notice signing advising you to pull up in the yellow boxed area at the bottom of the driveway and then to report to reception.
The yellow boxed area is 20 meters from reception the roadway is on a slight slope and is a tarmac surface.
The reception has double doors with a width of 1.8 meters when both doors are open.
We have a designated parking space marked outside reception which can be used when visiting the reception or using any of the facilities in the area.

Main Entrance & Reception

In the reception there is ample room for a large wheelchair to manoeuvre and turn.
The reception counter is 1070 cms high.
The opening times of reception are displayed on the door along with 24-hour contact details.

Public Areas – General (Internal)

Tarmac roads service all parts of the park with the occasional speed ramps located throughout the park.
The park is situated on the hillside with all the main facilities being in the central area, which has a slight gradual slope.
There are tarmac and gravel footpaths around the park leading to facilities and there are a few sections with steps and handrails between the terraces. The pathways are all a minimum of 1 meter wide.
There are benches located around the central area of the park.

Public Areas – WC

The park has three toilet blocks.
Two of these amenity buildings have adequate shower facilities however only one has a designated disabled suite, which is housed, in the main area.

Restaurant, Take Away

The restaurant has accessible parking bay directly outside the building.
The restaurant is accessed through reception and the shop with double doors at both entry points with a width of 1.8 meters when both opened. However there is a single door width of 80 cms upon entry to the restaurant.
Tables and chairs in the restaurant can be rearranged on request to accommodate wheelchairs.
All public areas are non-smoking.
The disabled suite is directly outside the restaurant.

Laundry

The laundry has a parking bay outside.
The laundry has access with two small steps at a height of 14cms and a door width of 670 cms.
All washing machines are front loading, with the tumble driers and spinner loading from the top.
All ironing boards are at a height of 1 meter and the coin meter can be reached from the sitting position.
There is seating in the room and immediately outside.

Shop

Accessed via reception and has double door access into the shop with a width of 1.8 meters when both doors are opened.
There is a parking bay outside the shop.
The shop is on one level.
There is ample room within for a large wheelchair to manoeuvre and turn.
The counter is 107 cms high
The staff will assist if required.

Hayloft Clubhouse

The Hayloft Bar is accessed via a disabled ramp through double doors of a width of 1.6 meters when both doors are opened.
The Hayloft Bar once inside is all on one level.
Chairs and tables can be moved to accommodate wheelchairs.
The disabled suite is situated outside of the Bar and is 46 meters on a tarmac roadway.
There is a parking bay outside the bar within 46 meters of the main doors.
The Hayloft Bar is non-smoking.
Some entertainment programmes have flashing lighting effects and loud music – please check with our reception team.

Holiday Accommodation

Our static caravans have 15 steps with handrail leading down to the sloping tarmac pathway accessing the units.
The units have two bedrooms sleeping up to 4 people with the lounge area converting into a third bedroom for another two people.
Parking for the units is in a designated car park area at the top of the steps.
All units are non-smoking.

Local Attractions

We have a wide variety of information in our reception area and our staff have a vast knowledge of the local area.
We are approximately 2 miles from the town centre and beaches in Torquay and approximately 2.5 miles from the town and beaches in Paignton.

Grounds and Gardens

Our park is set on a hillside although the terraces in each of our fields are spacious and level.
The roadway surfaces are mainly tarmac with a few areas having a stone chipping surface.

Directions

From Exeter: Follow A380 to English Riviera. At Devon Garden Machinery, turn right at the next roundabout onto Hamlyn Way A380, straight on at the next roundabout. Look to the right to see Widdicombe Farm, *Proceed to the next roundabout, follow the signs back to Widdicombe Farm (4th Exit)

From Torquay: Take the Newton Abbot/Exeter Road, look for Torre Railway Station on left, Turn left at next traffic lights into Shiphay Lane (Ring Road). Go to top of hill to second roundabout, turn left, Widdicombe Farm is half a mile on right.

From Paignton: From the zoo, turn right at traffic lights, *continue onto next roundabout, take 2nd exit. At next roundabout take 2nd exit, Widdicombe farm is on the left*

From Plymouth:Follow signs to Totnes then Paignton. Then at traffic lights turn left, follow directions as from *Paignton

Look for the official 'Widdicombe Farm' brown and white directional signs erected by the English Tourist Board, from all directions.
