What was great?
We arrived at this site at around 5 or 6 pm and lets just say first impressions are everything and this site did not fail to impress. The site was immaculate and we instantly knew we were going to enjoy our stay here. Set just a few minutes off the M6 you might be concerned about traffic noise but thankfully you are far enough away from the road to be bothered by it. During the day on Saturday and Sunday there was “noise” from traffic heading towards Windermere but it wasn’t noisy and did not disturb you at all. The grass pitches for tents was fantastic- flat and spacious with well kept lawn. We camped without electric but there was an option to have a serviced pitch if you needed that. All tents have to be six metres from their neighbours so you feel like you have privacy and can live in your own little bubble. We backed onto a country path so walking the dogs was easy enough and at night you could sit back and listen to the sounds of birds, watch rabbits and witness frogs bouncing across the path. We even got visited by a local cat. Facilities were clean and well looked after. Near the tent area was the reception block that had toilets, a wee shop and 4 star rated pub (but don’t worry you wouldn’t know it was there as there was no noise). There was also a backpacker facility. Further up the park was a play area and toilet and shower block. The shower block was clean with plenty of shower and sink cubicles to allow everyone to have a wash when they wanted without having to wait. If you stayed for any length of time you can do your laundry, wash dishes and not have to leave the site if you didn’t want to. I don’t think there was a single thing there that we would have hoped them to add to their facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful. Easily approachable.
