Welcome to Woodovis Park

Woodovis Park is a small, safe and peaceful 5 star holiday park nestled on the edge of Devon’s Tamar Valley: an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a designated World Heritage Site. It’s ideally located for exploring the West Country, with endless places to visit and things to do on your holiday. We’re close to Dartmoor National Park and within easy reach of the UK’s most dramatic coastlines and beaches.

You’re guaranteed a warm, friendly welcome. Whether you’re camping, touring or staying in a luxury caravan, nothing’s too much trouble for our staff who are on hand to help and advise at all times.

Woodovis Park has won many top level awards for its superb facilities and services, but we’re most proud of what our guests say.

Touring & Motorhomes

If you’re bringing your caravan or motorhome to Devon, drop in at Woodovis. We’re centrally located within easy reach of Dartmoor, the North and South Coasts and over the Tamar Valley to Cornwall. Pitches are level, well-equipped and excellent value while the award-winning facilities here are wide-ranging and exceptionally high quality.

Wherever you’re travelling, make Woodovis your base for a while.

Camping

Woodovis Park is ideally situated near Tavistock, in the heart of the West Country. You’ll find loads to do on-site and within walking distance and when you venture out, you’re spoilt for choice: Dartmoor to the east, Cornwall a short journey west and there’s easy access to the dramatic north and south coastlines with their stunning sandy beaches.

You can go easy on the cooking with breakfast baked in the shop …and it’s only a short stroll to a great local pub for dinner. After all that hard work, you’ll probably want to relax in the free hot tub…

We have camping pitches for all types of tents and all types of camper. Every pitch offers level ground, clean shower/toilet areas and unlimited use of our award-winning leisure facilities. Choose from two fields:

*Top Field is close to all facilities and the children’s play area
*Tamar View Field backs on to the wooded dog walk and feels more secluded and spacious. (The furthest pitch is still only 300m from all facilities.)

Our spacious camping pitches are split between the Top Field and the Tamar View Field. The Top Field is smaller but close to the facilities, shop, reception, games room, laundry and children’s play area. The Tamar View Field is a little removed from all of this and has more of a laid back feeling. Wherever you choose, nothing is too far away. Your longest walk to the facilities is less than 300m.

Available in the Top Field and Tamar View Field
For tents up 7.5m x 4.5m. (Some larger pitches available but book early as these go quick)
All include a free 10A electric hook-up point.

All weather pitches

Available in 7.5m x 7.5m of hardstanding, with a grass surround.
Special groundsheet provided to place under your tent to protect you from gravel chippings
No muddy groundsheets – no tent cleaning at the end of the holiday
You’ll need to use rock pegs on these pitches, (available from our shop)
Includes a free 10A electric hook-up point.

Tamar View Field only
8m x 10.5m including 2.5m of grass area to one side

For your convenience

All electric hook-up points are within 25m of the pitch. Super Pitches have their own electric hook-up and water point as well as grey waste drainage.

You’re never more than 100m from a water point. Super Pitches have their own tap.
The chemical disposal point is on the end of the toilet block.
There is a dishwashing area in each field, one indoor, one under cover.
There are waste collection and recycling points in each field. Please try to recycle as much as possible.

Glamping (Pods)

Leave the tent behind…Enjoy all the fun of camping without the packing up! If you love the idea of camping but understandably want to keep dry and cosy and away from those creepy crawlies, then our cute Camping Pods & Super Pods are the answer. They’re the ideal place to build your own warm, snugly nest. Bring all of your normal gear but when you arrive you just move in straightaway! No time lost erecting or packing away a wet tent!

Live under big skies, see the stars, get back to nature. But there’s no need to stray too far from comfort: chocolate croissants for breakfast from our shop and a short stroll up the road to a superb local pub for dinner.

The pods at Woodovis offer you a charming, extra comfortable alternative to camping – all the beauty of the great outdoors without the hassle of clearing away your tent at the end of your holiday. They’re like a tiny house, which just happens to be in a beautiful park with easy access to everything. We currently have 1 Pod and 2 Super Pods. They’re proving to be very popular so please book early, especially for high season.

The Pod – Sleeps 2 adults (2 adults, 2 small children max)

Inside measures 2.75m x 2.5m with good head room
Relax on your own porched decking – there’s shelter to cook or just watch the world go by
Small table & two chairs provided
Keep warm and secure! The pod has a double glazed window and lockable French Doors and good insulation
If the cold hits, just switch on your own heater

Perfect for those who love the idea of camping, but love their comforts that little bit more

Super Pods - Sleep 4

Super Pods measure 3.35 m x 2.27 m with good head room
Inside, there’s a table with two bench seats to sit 4. This converts into a double bed
We can provide two additional camp beds if required
Porched decking with table and two chairs for sitting, cooking and watching the world go by
Stay snug with double glazing and insulated walls
Heater, electric socket, lighting and a small TV
Sorry, no pets

Static Caravans

Our luxury holiday homes are located in three quiet, secluded, wooded areas of the park. They’re fully equipped with everything you need to relax and enjoy your holiday in comfort – and you’re never far away from our superb facilities, including a heated indoor swimming pool, infrared spa and friendly camp shop stocked with local produce and freshly baked bread. Beds are all made up for your arrival with crispy white sheets and duvets.

Woodovis recently received the Rose Award which is only given to parks which provide 1st class caravan holiday homes.

Dogs are welcome in most of our holiday homes (2 max) and we charge £35 per dog per week or short break. Cots and highchairs are available free of charge – please ask when making your booking.

Self Catering Holiday Cottage

2 Bedrooms, Sleeps 3

Woodovis Cottage is a beautiful traditional Devon stable building converted sympathetically and furnished with high quality fixtures & fittings, double glazing and central heating throughout. It’s ideal for those who love self-catering but want those extra comforts and appreciate a bit of pampering (all beds are made up for your arrival with crisp fresh white sheets and duvets).

You get the best of both worlds here – all the facilities of the site, including swimming pool, spa and local produce shop and the exclusive use of our cosy old cottage.

There’s only the one cottage, and it’s very popular, so please book early.

Upstairs: bathroom with a bath, shower, wc and hand basin; 1 large double bedroom with king size bed; 1 single bedroom.
Downstairs: kitchen/diner fully equipped with electric cooker, fridge, freezer and microwave; comfortable lounge with Digital TV, DVD, video and CD player.
Outside: patio garden with table and chairs lovely for eating al fresco!

Price includes all heating, lighting and linen. Dogs are welcome in Woodovis Cottage (2 max) – £35 per dog per week or short break. Cots and high chairs are available free of charge – please ask for them when making your booking.

Facilities

Heated Swimming Pool & Spa
The indoor heated swimming pool is a great place to relax and have fun with the whole family, or pamper yourself and unwind in the spa pool. It’s available for use for everyone at Woodovis: camping, holiday homes, self-catering or touring, you’re all welcome. And it’s completely free.

Dog Walking Area
This beautiful wooded walk made up of almost 300 young trees, is a lovely place to take a stroll with the dog and soak up the atmosphere of Woodovis Park. A great spot to view buzzards and often ducks, geese and sheep in the lower field.

Childrens Play Area
Relax while your little’uns go wild in our safe wood-chipped play area. There’s a climbing frame, play house, slide, baby swings and even a friendly old tractor that the grown-ups seem to love as much as the children.

The Copper Penny
OK, this isn’t strictly speaking a facility and it’s not in the park. But it’s an easy, short walk to our local family-run pub. If you’re too tired to cook after a long day’s fun, or simply want to treat yourself without breaking the bank, make a beeline for this place. Owned by local farmers, you’re guaranteed fresh homemade meals and a warm welcome from Peter, Marion and the family.

Freshly Baked Bread
Wake up to the smell of freshly baked bread, croissants, and pain-au-chocolat. We bake everything to order so you can be sure that it’s absolutely fresh and always delicious!

Free Family Foraging Walks
Families can look forward to weekly free foraging in the school holidays with professional ecologist and forager, Ceri Richards. Learn how to forage safely, legally and sustainably, identify numerous edible and otherwise useful local plants and sample a range of wild foods all in a 1-2 hour walk on the Park.

Archery
Learn archery with a trained archery instructor. Sessions last one hour and are very popular with adults and children alike. It’s a great opportunity to try something new.

When: Wednesday evenings in high season. Minimum age: 8. Charges apply.

Shop & Off-Licence
Our shop stocks most things you’ll need on your holiday, from shampoo to Champagne! Lots of local produce: free range eggs, butchers’ meat, jams and pickles, and of course, Dartmoor Farm clotted cream ice-cream!

Open every morning and evening but hours vary throughout the season.

Laundry & Ironing
No worries packing for a long holiday, we have coin-operated commercial washing machines and dryers and free use of the ironing facilities.

Water Walking
Imagine being inside a giant see-through beach ball, then trying to walk across a swimming pool! This madcap, hilarious activity is great fun and great exercise too.

When: Sunday mornings in the pool during high season. Charges apply.

Physiotherm Infrared Therapy Cabin
A powerful and natural way to enhance the body’s ability to remain balanced. Therapeutic infrared unleashes naturally held power within your body. A targeted deep heat treatment warms the blood vessels in the back. Health benefits include: relaxation, revitalisation, rejuvenation, detoxification, recovery and weight loss. Available for everyone at Woodovis to use – free of charge.

Games Room
No matter where you go travelling, ’the games room’ always holds an importance way above its station. At Woodovis Park, the games room always turns in to a meeting point for children making new holiday friends and a battle arena as parents desperately try to beat their offspring at pool, table football, air hockey, pinball and giant Connect 4!

Outdoor Table Tennis
It should be law: a campsite must have an outdoor table tennis table. There’s more fun and laughter generated from this simple addition to our park than almost anything else. Bats are free to borrow and you can buy balls from our cute, retro vending machine.

Pétanque Court
If you’ve been lucky enough to have camped or toured in France, you’ll have been treated to some wonderful parks and facilities. We’ve always loved the French way of ‘doing campsites’ so we thought we’d throw in a Pétanque Court (that’s boules to you and me, by the way.) It’s situated on the court by the open ball games area.

WiFi Internet Access
For those who just can’t get away from their laptop, or need to keep in touch with the real world, or just want to plan exciting days out with lots of information at your fingertips, we now have WiFi access throughout the park! Charges apply.

Touchscreen Tourist Information
Our touch screen information board in the games room is packed with information from up to date weather to local attractions, beaches and places to go.

Dog Wash
A clean dog is a happy dog! One of the little extras that just makes your holiday that bit easier.

Post Box
No excuses now. You can send your postcards home and tell everyone about your wonderful holiday at Woodovis because there’s a post box at reception.

Newspapers
We offer a free WiFi link to the national papers as we are unable to get delivery here. We actually calculated that if we travelled to collect them daily then, with the 2000 miles of travel and production of the papers, we would produce over 2 tonnes of CO2. If you don’t have a laptop then, we can lend you one for the duration of your stay.
