Welcome to Woodside Lodges Country Park

For a real 'away from it all' holiday

In a gloriously rural setting, our luxury Scandinavian Lodges offer you the peace and tranquillity of our 25 acre landscaped grounds, superb views over the surrounding countryside – and the relaxed and friendly environment of the family run Woodside Country Park. With a backcloth of over 100 acres of mixed woodland, care has been taken to preserve and enhance the surrounding environment by providing a wild flower and natural woodland area, encouraging an abundance of wildlife. This compliments the pools and waterfalls where coarse fishing, or a relaxing summer evening picnic can be enjoyed, taking in the spectacular views of unspoiled Herefordshire. Pets welcome.

Reception
Through the main entrance then bear right up the drive to the top lodge. The reception is sited in the lower level of this lodge. There is a bell on the reception door and also a brass bell on the pillar to attract attention if required

The Park
The park consists of 25 acres in total of open countryside facing south and contains a number of lakes, some for coarse fishing, seven self catering Scandinavian lodges, and a small touring caravan site for caravans and tents.

In addition there is a Bunk House catering for cyclists and walkers, some of whom may be walking the long distance footpath known as the Herefordshire trail, which is situated a few hundred yards away. There are two toilet blocks offering hot showers, washing-up facilities, laundry facilities for washing and drying clothes, disposal of waste water.

Public transport is available within 1/2 mile and a wide range of shops, including 2 supermarkets within 2 miles.

Rural stting and location

Nestling amongst the scenic woodland slopes at the foot of the Malvern Hills in an area of outstanding natural beauty, the picturesque and bustling town of Ledbury, is just 2 miles away, with easy access to the M5/M50. This ancient town, first noted in the Doomsday Book, but which has been a settlement since the Stone Age, is famous for its Black and White buildings, cobbled streets and renowned Poetry Festival, and more recently National winners of the Britain in Bloom Competition.

Boasting unspoilt countryside views, these luxurious and exclusive Scandinavian lodges offer the perfect retreat away from it all in the peace and tranquillity of 25 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. Awarded the David Bellamy Gold Award for Conservation and with an impressive backdrop of over 100 acres of mixed woodland, teaming with flora, fauna and wildlife, this idyllic cluster of lodges provides a superb base for family holidays and romantic short breaks at anytime of the year.

Two bedroom luxury lodge. One double and one twin room plus leather sofa-bed in the lounge. Includes bath with overhead shower.

Kites Nest Lodge - Sleeps 2

Special luxury lodge. One bedroom with kingsize four poster bed. Bath with overhead shower. Ensuite dressing room with sauna. Leather suite. Woodburning stove.

Falcon Wood Lodge and Tanglewood Lodge - Sleeps 6

Very spacious three bedroom lodge. One double with kingsize four poster bed and ensuite shower and two twin rooms. Additional bathroom with bath and shower cubicle. Sauna and woodburning stove.

Touring Caravans and Tents

The Woodside Country Park also has a small touring site with outstanding views over the open countryside and ideal for caravans, tents and motor homes. It comprises of approximately one acre with a gentle slope in an orchard and sheltered on the North and East by mature woodland and an additional four acre level field adjacent to the Cider Mill, which is also available for rallies. An ideal base for walking, cycling and fishing

Bunk House Accomodation

To widen the option of accommodation added facilities now include a specially adapted barn, specifically designed to cater for individuals or larger parties of walkers and cyclists, some of whom may be travelling along the Herefordshire Trail, the Malvern Hills or in the Forest of Dean.

Each room is furnished with a wardrobe, dining area and cooking area. The cooking area has a kettle, toaster, microwave, 2 ring table top cooker, fridge, basic cooking equipment and utensils and crockery.

We have 5 rooms: the family room has twin beds and 2 bunk beds; one room has 3 beds; and three rooms have twin beds.

Conservation Area and Fishing

After much research, the project to create a Conservation Area began in Feburuary 2002.This project has been to make improvements to an area of old pasture which had become redundant and uneconomical to use as grazing land, and transform it into a wildlife area. With the adjacent habitats being predominately pasture, improved grassland and woodland, it was an ideal situation to create a site with the potential to support protected species such as Great Crested newts and other important species.

Colour & Variety all year round

Over 500 native water plants, trees and shrubs have been planted together with approximately 100 varieties of wild flowers, aiming to give colour and variety all year round.

Fishing for everyone

It has been important to us to create an area accessible by all, especially allowing easy access for the disabled, giving them the opportunity for fishing for Carp, Rudd, Roach and Tench in the lakes, and enjoying the abundance of wildlife.
To be in keeping with the objectives of the project, all benches and picnic tables are environmentally friendly, having been made from recycled materials.

This has been a continuing process of improvement to incorporate the planting of approximately 600 native trees and the construction of five further pools.

Local Attractions

Ledbury Town Centre

The town is well known as a picturesque and thriving market centre with a wealth of Black and White architecture, set in this most beautiful and unspoilt landscape. Situated, as it is, almost equal distance from the cathedral towns of Gloucester, Hereford, and Worcester, and in close proximity of the M50 motoway - it is ideally positioned for exploring the countryside of Englands most rural county.

The countryside surrounding Ledbury rivals any in England and is well known for its Hopyards, Cider Orchards and Hereford Cattle. In spring there is an abundance of wild daffodils and bluebells which carpet many local woodlands.
With an excellent road network, Woodside Country Park is the ideal base from which to explore the Wye Valley, Symonds Yat, Ross-on-Wye, The Royal Forest of Dean, The Malvern Hills and Hay-on-Wye. Many visitors find they have to return because they are unable to take in all the attractions in one stay!

The Malvern Hills
The Malvern Hills are situated inamongst some of the most beautiful Areas of Natural Beauty around. With breathtaking views of the surrouding counties of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire, the Malvern Hills contain numerous walks with outstanding beauty and scenery including the Shropshire hills and the Black Mountains of Wales.

Forest of Dean
Nestling between the Wye Valley, the Vale of Leadon and the Severn Valley, the Royal Forest of Dean is one of England's few remaining ancient forests, covering 27,000 acres of woodland. Designated as a National Forest Park in 1938, this 'Queen of Forests' boasts a spectacular range of natural beauty combined with an aura of magic and mystery that has been the inspiration for many great artists and writers including JRR Tolkien, Dennis Potter and JK Rowling.

The seasons bring an ever-changing landscape, from the vivid blues and yellows of wild bluebells and daffodils in spring, to the blaze of gold and russet colours during autumn. Nature and wildlife is abundant, complemented by a wealth of local fare and a true 'Forest' welcome, which awaits all visitors. With such a spectacular range of natural beauty, outdoor leisure activities and attractions, combined with a uniquely fascinating history and heritage plus a whole host of year-round events and festivals, the Royal Forest of Dean truly is an awe inspiring short-break destination at any time of the year.

Directions

Woodside Country Park is situated approximately 2 miles west of Ledbury, Herefordshire. Access is from the M50 junction via the A417. On reaching the roundabout on the Ledbury by-pass turn left and follow the signs for Hereford. At the third roundabout turn left into Little Marcle Road, passing the factory on the left. Drive a further 1/2 mile and Falcon Lane is on the right. Drive along Falcon Lane and take the sixth entrance on the right into Woodside Lodges.

From Junction 2 on the M50 take the A417 to Ledbury. At the roundabout turn left following Leadon Way (by-pass) signposted UBL and Hereford (A438). At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit (by-pass) to the next roundabout. Turn left into Little Marcle Road, signposted to Little Marcle. Go past the UBL factory and take the right turn signposted Falcon Lane and Baregains Lane. Woodside Country Park is the sixth entrance on the right.
