Question: 5amp supply will I run table top frezzer

We have just found out our pitch in France has only a 5 amp supply our Pennine pathfinder will be ok but we were thinking of bringing a small table top freezer will this run ok or will we blow the trip along with kettles hair dryer and mobile phones and tablets ect

Hi Kevin,
Mobiles etc should be ok but I think you will struggle with some of the other stuff. Especially if you're using things at the same time.
Google for an approximation of amps drawn by each device typically.
As for tripping out, this may be ok if your pitch has an individual trip but if not, be wary of tripping out all your neighbours supply too!

Yes we googled it and I don't think we will be taking the freezer with us this year thank you 5amp is low for camping

Hi Kevin,

We caravan in France all the time. 5 and 3 amp is common. This is fine for camping fridge, TV and phone chargers. Normally the trip in the van will go but sometimes in high demand times the whole lop goes all your neighbours. This happens on big sites with Eurocamp customers when all the girls get the hair tongs out.

Best rule of thumb is to divide the watts of the device by the mains voltage and that will give you the amps drawn. France I think is 230v. I used to run a camping fridge on gas when the family used to come with us.
