OK, understood.
Basically you are looking for a permanent live feed.
There are 3 simple ways to do this.

Quick and dirty.
1) Trace wiring from monitor to where it joins vehicle wiring disconnect or cut it. insulate (tape cut end).
Then A
Crimp connector (bullet etc) to end from monitor. Buy cigarette lighter plug attach wire to it and crimp opposite side of connector to it.put in cigarette lighter socket.
OR B) Connect to a permanent live feed - often a cigarette lighter but can be radio etc. by soldering to back.

BEST .
Run a new wire from positive terminal of battery through existing bulkhead holes - or from leisure battery. Make sure in line fuse is included. Only needs positive as negative will be permanent connection anyway. Then join to existing (ignition fed) feed by cutting, crimping connector etc as above.

You will need to purchase a 12v "needle probe" in order to verify live feed unless you use cigarette lighter feed which can obviously be tested by using lighter with ignition off.
Hope this helps.

The poblem with this suggestion is two fold.
1 - I already use the cigarette lighter socket for a couple of devices (satnav & carcam).
2 - and main one - the monitor is alreay wired in and the cable disapears behind the roof lining and presumably down the the window column to somewhere behind the the dash board etc.....
If I had a wiring diagram I would know which coloured wires were for main feed and which for the reverse feed - then just reconnect them inside the unit itself.

Apologies if you are doing something other than stated.
I suspect you are looking at this from the wrong end.
To make any device "permanently on" it is necessary to wire it in in such a manner that it receives a permanent live feed. I.E not ignition / gearbox switch etc. controlled.
You therefore need to connect your screen through such a power source.
It is therefore the wiring which you are connecting IN to that you need to be aware of.
Comment
Maybe phrased it wrongly.
What I meant to say was on all the time the ignition was on.
And not just when reverse gear is selected.
