I own a Lunar Eclipse caravan which has a 10 inch crack in the rear bumper; the result of having reversed into a tree. I have thought of sticking a piece of aluminium to the rear face and then finishing the front by blending with fibre glass. The crack is clean and meets well, is this a good way of repairing the damage and can you recommend a suitable adhesive to stick the reinforcing aluminium to the plastic.

This bumper is likely to be made of plastic and repair is not always successful. We have had some success with a UV patch distributed by Kent Industries which if applied to the rear of the panel should allow you to successfully fill the crack from the front.
