We are new to caravanning and have had our Bailey Olympus for one year now. We are just wondering how often we should change the tyres? Is there anything I should be doing to look after the tyres especially during the winter months? Any advice much appreciated.

Caravan & Motorhome tyres have a nasty habit of looking OK because they do very very little mileage compared to a car and it is rare for the tread to wear out. They are far more likely to suffer cracking and bulging. In winter it is always a good idea to rotate the wheels (or even remove the wheels and replace with Winter Wheels which gives you an extra degree of security.) You can also also support your caravan on axle stands (or jacks) to take the weight off the tyres throughout winter as flat spotting, due to sitting on one part of the tyre for extended periods, is quite common.
Changing the tyres every 5 years or so may seem an expensive option but this is far better than having a tyre failure on the way to your summer holiday.

Hi a fellow Bailey owner as below the tyres should be changed at 5 years, your service team should advise you. Things to be careful off is rubbing the walls on kerbs, usually in car parks or petrol stations. I tow about 6000 miles a year and when I stop for a rest (coffee break) on a trip I check the condition of all tyres on the outfit and torque of the nuts on the caravan. I have experiance of loosing a wheel and tread peeling (6 years old tyre) it had been the spare and only covered 300 miles.
You may find the Bailey owners club worth joining to extend your caravanning experiance see us on facebook
Regards
Alan

Check the tyre age. All tyres are dated week and year
eg 1013 tenth week of 2013. It is recomended tyres are changed after 5 years.
Check for signs of deteriation like cracks and bulges.

In the winter months make sure you have correct pressure in the tyres and also try and rotate the wheels on a regular basis
hope this helps

Of course, in winters, you should go with winter-only tyres especially if you are driving your caravan in the snowy area. In this regard, it is better to install the tyres that have peak mountain snowflake symbol on it. If you are looking winter cheap tyres online then you can put your rim size, width and required brand etc herehttps://alltyres365.co.uk/list/van/?season=winter and you would easily find the right option. In the same token, I would suggest you to always replace all of 4 tyres for seasons because if you use 2 winter and 2 summer tyres then for sure, it will affect the performance of your caravan.
