Question: camping toilet advice please?

I think we might get a camping toilet...thinking of the ones that are very simple (lid on a bucket!!!!) Really for the kids in the night instead of going all the way to toilet block!
Any views on these? Do you just put the chemical fluid in them?
Are there other camping toilets that people think work well for them?

Thanks for any advice..much appreciated!

forgot to add that their a little more astetic to look at than the lid on a bucket variety

as for the toilet chemical we used to use AQUA KEM BLUE chemical toilet fluid, because it was cheap and cheerful and didn't smell too bad

hi Mary, I know theres a bewildering array of porta loo's on offer but I can highly recommend the the KAMPA KHAZI, they're basic but have a 'proper' toilet seat ,are lightweight and easy to clean, they are also about the same height as the loo at home.

I can personally recommend them as it's what we used to use before we moved into caravans

they normally retail for around the £20 mark, Towsure have them on their web site for £19.95

Would totally endorse Peter's answer and would add that the service I got from Kampa when I managed to split the bucket and needed a new one was second to none.

Usually, I prefer to park my campervan near the places that are surrounding with good toilets like this https://toiletreviewer.com/best-toilets/ but if you are looking for portable eco-toilets then Natures Head Composting Toilet could be a great choice. Yes, it is a little expensive but it will give you great relief with kids. If you are looking for a cheap option then I would recommend you to go with Bivvy Loo and Outdoor Revolution Big Loo.

I totally recommend the Kamp Khazi, aswell. I bought a pop-up loo tent. Pops up easily. BUT! I had to go on the internet to see how to pop it down. But once you get the hang of it, it's well worth it. I have a stand up wash, dry myself and dress in it.
