Now, I don't want any 'I told you so' and 'what do you expect' - got enough of that from my friends when they heard this story!

To cut it short: bought a tent from Milletts last summer in the sale. I know, I know, I should have bought a different brand! On the second outing one of the poles was found to be shattered. First outing was calm and lovely, no problems at all, so no stress to the tent. Phoned the shop in question: they were unable to do anything about it as the poles weren't covered by the warranty. I spoke to their central office three times and received the same message each time: I wasn't covered. Spent time looking for replacement poles elsewhere in the country, before I thought, "Hang on, this isn't right." and phoned Trading Standards who told me that I was covered and needed to go right back to the store and tackle them again. Once Trading Standards had been mentioned, the store changed its tune and offered and replacement or refund. I went for the refund!

Just shows that you need to push.
