Hi Joanne: we have just returned from a Certified Site (CS) at Church Bay on Anglesey North Wales, and I think it is within your distance. A CS is a basic campsite, generally for members of the Camping & Caravanning Club (C&CC), of which we are members, but we have used loads of CS's over the last 3-years and have only been asked for our membership card a couple of times. The site I am referring to is called Gadlys and is on a small slightly-sloping field and it has 6-pitches with EHU and can accommodate at least another 4/5 tents on non-EHU pitches too. The EHU pitches are generous in size and marked. There is a drinking water tap, chemical disposal, and a small building that houses 2 loos and 2 free hot showers and a sink with cold water only, this building is unisex. The maximum nightly fee is £15 per night. The site accepts dogs (on leads and under control) and children too. There is a sea view and a public path from the site entrance that takes you to the small village that containers the famous 'Lobster Pot' Restaurant, and a cafe that is open Wed to Sunday, and a lovely beach. The village is also on the Anglesey Coastal Path. The view is Holyhead Mountain. You are roughly 20 minutes by car from the retail park on the outskirts of Holyhead and there is: Morrisons, Tesco (24-hour), Poundland, Poundworld, B&M, KFC and more. Nearer to the site are a couple of smaller shops too. The Church Bay Inn is short stroll from the site too.

Thanks Elizabeth, this site sounds the just lovely for me and Ben so I will check it out and get the tel number. If the distance is ok for me I will squeeze in another weekend (or two) while our weather is 'holding out'.
Thanks so much for replying with so much detail especially about the shops!

Hi Joanne,

Sorry if this is a bit late but maybe good for next year?

We have stayed in the past at Cae Gwyn Farm & Nature Reserve. It's not on the coast but more in land from Barmouth. Beautiful scenery and the campsite is very unusual. If you're into your wildlife spotting, you'll find it ideal.
