Question: Is the weather spoiling your caravan & camping day

My caravan is on a seasonal pitch up the Yorkshire Dales. After months of looking forward to the site opening for Easter, I received a very disappointing e-mail today from the site informing me that the site will not be opening until 1st April, because of snow. I wouldn't mind but the car was parked on the drive, fully fuelled and packed and ready to go.

I know it's not the sites fault but I'll bet the weather of late must be deterring a lot of potential newbies from taking the hobby up. Then again the positive side is there may quite a few cheap caravans coming onto the market.

Has anyone else out there had there Easter Break spoilt by the vagaries of the British weather?

We had a number of cancellations on the CL, yet we have never really had lying snow all Winter, and as I sit writing this it is brilliant sunshine and the Solar Panels are earning. Can only get better.

Hi,
You must be so disappointed, I have been looking forward to the official start of the season at my site. Luckily I have been able recently to take my caravan over to its seasonal pitch near Mevagissey, Cornwall as we have hardly had any snow - so glad the climate is usually mild down here! Of the 12 seasonal pitches, 7 caravans are already in place and over Easter weekend 5 of them were occupied braving the frost and bitter wind, unfortunately I was not one of them - problems with our cat sitter, but hope to be over next weekend to put up the awning and stay. Hope you can manage to do the same!

Hi Pamela, Just spent 3 nights at the caravan with my lovely wife. It was great apart from the -3c temp at night, the water freezing and no one being on site. We managed to get the awning up and in the end it was home from home. Back home now to warm up a bit then back again at weekend. It's a hard life being a caravanner!
Regards
Ray
