What's the best way to clean a caravan and what will stop the black streaks as they are driving me mad?

Hi Darren
Try Muc-off Caravan Cleaner. Get it from the internet. It's a bit expensive, but really works.
Do as it says on the tin (or bottle in this case) then rinse off with a hosepipe.
Brilliant finish every time.

hi Darren, when it comes to caravan cleaning i use a portable power washer ( hand pump so no pwerful jets washers to damage seals etc) , i use one of these mainly because it needs no electricity to operate it . they're available at most caravan accessory shops ,i got mine from Towsure (under £20.00)

as for cleaning agents ,i normally opt for fenwicks superior caravan cleaner ( usually under £7 for a litre bottle) ,i have also used muc off too in the past but muc off is a bit more expensive than fenwicks and i personally found no real difference in the end result so have stuck with fenwicks.

when it come's to the dreaded black streaks, i don't thing we're ever going to stop them happening but i've found fenwicks black streak remover ( under £5.00) as good as anything else for removing them.

hope this helps a bit

Hi Darren, I use Autoglym which is great and leaves a lovely shine. But as Peter advises Fenwicks is also a great cleaner and highly recommended.

I am afraid though the black streaks are just part of the fun of caravanning. It gives you something to do on those hot sunny days when there is nothing better to do but clean the caravan.

Regards

Ray

Why do people fall for this con of putting caravan or motorhome in a cleaners title. Its generally the same as the car stuff with a few ponds added to the price. The best defence against black streaks is to make sure that the roof and sides are clean and well waxed, this will reduce the black streaks to a manageable level.

I guess mike , we all do things differently, I use fenwicks because they work, if I thought poundland washing up liquid did as good a job i'd use that.
and as an ex-valeter myself I've also used car care products to clean the tin tent. I drew the line at claying the 'van though thought that was going a job too far, lol

Hi Darren

I think Fenwicks black streak remover has already been mentioned; great for shifting the grime.

But prevention is better than cure, so I definitely recommend Fenwicks Over Wintering Solution which prevents the marks from 'sticking' to the paintwork in the first place, and any marks that do stick can easily be rinsed off.

If you love cleaning your caravan or motor home, the best finish comes from Fenwicks Slinky.

I do hope this helps.

Have to agree about using Slinky but its extremely hard work and it won't remove oxidation either Posted by Mike@ motorhomevalet on 06 Jun 2013
