We used to go camping a fair bit... Before children! We now have a nearly three year old son and I would love to pick all those veteran camping brains out there for top tips on how to introduce little-uns to camping so that we enjoy ourselves and want to go again.

Type of tent?

Managing mealtimes?

Keeping them occupied?

(And the dreaded)bedtimes!!

All ideas gratefully received!

My advice would be don't worry about anything apart from being warm at night. Kids love camping, the change of scenery, sleeping under canvas, the adventure etc. If you can buy an aluminium folding bed to keep your young one off the floor as this will add to their cosiness. Maybe even bring their own duvet too.
Its a great thing when everyone is in bed to be able to talk, laugh and relax..such a warm feeling for all

Hi Bekah
We have the Vango Tigris 800 XL. It has a front pole added to the old design which literally doubles the living space and gives loads of storage and a great place for setting up the table to eat. It also has really large windows in the living area which make it bright and airy. We have been very happy with this buy and its perfect for our family. Def reccomend. Hope that helps

Thanks, Steve, that's really helpful.
Now we just need to pray for some camping weather - I am feeling positive this year!
Anyone else got any tips of how to handle bedtimes, for a child who has never slept outside four solid walls before?

We have introduced our grand-daughters to both caravanning and camping over the last few years (they are now 3 and 5).

The only problem we had was actually with getting them to sleep as they were so excited about it all, but once they were off they slept like logs!! We purchased them the kids inflatable air beds with sides in their favourite colours for the tent and they use them when they come for a sleep over as they love them that much.
