After touring Scotland with my touring caravan for the last 3 weeks, I thought I'd ask the question of "towing nightmares".
I must admit I covered nearly a 1000 miles on my trip and only had a few frights along the way. The first being when my Sat Nav lost it's GPS signal 5 miles away from the site, leaving me to try and remember where the site was located.I nearly ended up crossing the bridge into Berwick Upon Tweed, which would not have been fun. The second bit of fun was when my satnav told me to turn right near Loch Lomond, which took me down a tiny backstreet barely wide enough for a car. I shouldn't have ignored the old guy waving his arms at me just before I turned!
And the final nightmare was when we hit a diversion 10 miles from my home base which took me up and down some of the steepest and narrowest roads you would ever take a caravan down.
Oh forgot to mention the lorry and then a bus which we had to squeeze past with only inches to spare...... Hmmm! Do you enjoy towing?

Hi Raymond,

Know exactly what you mean. I am paranoid about narrowing lanes not knowing exactly where you are. I always keep the mapping on the Satnav up to date and my wife follows a map when we are near our destination. I am thinking of getting a Caravan Club Satnav which takes the caravan into account when calculating the route.

Hi Mike, Glad to know I'm not alone on this subject. I'm also going to buy a either a truckers sat nav or the caravan club model.
Regards
Ray
