Question: Repairing caravan cushions - any advice

Our caravan cushions need some serious TLC. I think that some of them need replacing completely - sponge and all.

Does anyone have any advice on how best to do this - is it going to be easy to do myself? We have a local 'foam shop' in Exeter but I was hoping for some advice on what type or thickness of foam I should go for.

Thank you.

Hi Rob

Best I can sugest is to google Caravan Salvage/Reclamation for your area, if your vans an Elddis I have 2 lists from over UK given to me by Elddis themselves, I suppose they may stock other models, if you want them I can upload them to dropbox for you to download

You could try find a caravan/camper/motorhome salvage yard you would get some that fit perfectly and in good condition, you probably be able to get co-ordinated curtains also

Thanks, Dave - hadn't even thought of that. How would I find the salvage yards? Posted by Rob Ackroyd on 17 Jan 2014

Hi Rob, caravan salvage is probably the best solution, as Dave suggested.
A few years ago I had all my cushions reupholstered at a cost of about £300, including the price of the material which I bought myself off eBay. Most shops that do upholstery would probably do the work for you. Including providing new foam. Please note though that most bench seating in caravans is sprung.
Regards
Ray

Yes, so I am better off going for salvage with the already-sprung cushions. Thanks, Ray. Posted by Rob Ackroyd on 17 Jan 2014
