It's nearly February half term, and this time last year we were getting ready for a few days touring with the caravan. There isn't much chance of that this year. In the past week we've had gales, rain and snow, with the odd hour of sunshine. And looking out the window it looks like it's time to batten down the hatches again for a few more days.
We are the lucky ones, we live in Oldham which happens to be too high up for any major flooding. My heart goes out to those poor people down south who seen not only their homes flooded but probably their caravans as well.
After watching the news showing flooded caravan parks, it makes one wonder how all this devastation can be put right before the season starts. The financial impact for both site owners and people owing static must be daunting.
For those effected, our thoughts are with you,
Regards
Ray

Hi Raymond we are in the same situation as your self. Went to renew my house insurance and the first three questions they asked were, are you likely to flood, have you ever flooded and are you on a flood plain? Shocker
On a better note we are intending to go to Clumber Park at the end of the month come rain or shine or even snow. It's such a nice place at any time of the year with the walks, cycling or just sat in the caravan reading and watching the wildlife.

Hi Darren. Nice to hear you are still venturing out at the end of the month with your caravan, fingers crossed the weather is kind to you.
I am actually thinking of going up to my caravan in the Yorkshire Dales today, to see if all is well after the winter period. It's on a seasonal pitch and covered, so hopefully it should have survived the storms (not sure about the cover though😐). Today's weather is sunny for a change, so it will be a nice run out.
Regards
Ray

we live in Sheffield and although our fair city is hilly to say the least a few years ago large areas of Sheffield were left under water when the river Don burst it's banks, thankfully we live at the top of one the city's largest hill's so were unaffected but several family members who live close to the river were , in fact my local pub is right on the bank side of the river and was so badly flooded it was 2 years before it was fit to re-open.

having seen the devastation flooding causes first hand , like you my thoughts are with those down south that have suffered a life changing catastrophe that most of us can only imagine and will never, hopefully, experience.

as for clumber park, got to agree lovely place to spend a few days, we've stayed on the caravan club site there a few times now and have enjoyed every minute, specially the Friday night visit of the fish and chip shop van, I can recommend the hospitality of the Park inn ( used to be the social club) in Hardwick village too
