I have the usual orange hook up cable but going to France for first time this year and wonder if I need an adapter for the electric hook up?

It depends where you will be going in France - almost ALL the sites I have visited between Dunkirk and not quite the southern most end of Brittany that I was on - take the English orange with blue plug. Further south you need a converter - easily bought at most camping stores. I rather think in the Vendee and some of the Loire valley I needed the adaptor once or twice. The ACSI Guide which I highly recommend if you are going off peak - tells you which electrical connections there are on the campsites. (I also needed the adaptor to plug in at my Brother's house in Brittany so its useful to have!) Its a blue socket with less than a meter of white flex ending in an earthed French/Continental plug.

You will also need a revers polarity lead. Thus is a lead with the live and neutral reversed. Many sites in France and Spain have peculiar electrics. I always use a circuit tester when I get plugged in do that I have safe electrical supply to the motorhome.

Thanks for that. I am off out tomorrow to buy one and thank you for bringing it up as I would never have thought I needed such a thing. Posted by The two D's on 12 Feb 2015
I have managed without one - and read a few threads about reverse polarity - not sure what I think really! Some say its a MUST have and others don't bother! Posted by PH Lincs on 12 Feb 2015
Befor you go out and try to buy a lead you will not get one. You need to make them. You should also check if your electrics
System has a revers polarity switch that eliminates the need for the lead.
