Has anyone done this - I would like to hire a tent and take my own bicycle and dogs with me - I know you can hire bikes but mine is rather a special shape to accommodate my ageing neck! Any advice would be good - thank you.

We are planning a holiday in the Scillies this May.. really looking forward to it. Driving down, leaving the car at a friend's house and then catching the ferry over to St Agnes. Staying at Troytown campsite. It all seems fairly straightforward, in that the campsite will come to meet you if you wish.

We are hoping to do some cycling too. At the moment, though, I can only find bike hire on St Marys and on Tresco. Not on St Agnes, where we want to stay. I'm not sure if we can take bikes on the ferry, either...will try to find out.

Thanks for the reply - I have the brochure now and it looks as though it would be easier to leave one dog behind - I am really bad at travelling light - so it is quite a challenge! I will have to ask the ferry about bikes - as I have to take mine - it is specially adapted for my neck problems. I don't think a day trip would be near enough so I am keen on staying! PS have just messaged the Ferry company - I am sure you would be able to take hire bikes between the islands. Are you hiring tents or taking your own - I now have a nice tent but that makes for more luggage! Posted by PH Lincs on 27 Feb 2015
It would cost me £26 return to transport my bike to the Isles - so it is possible - I wonder how competitive against bike hire but since I really need my own bike - I am happy with that. Posted by PH Lincs on 28 Feb 2015
