Looking for a smaller site (no entertainment, kids clubs etc), dog friendly, preferably with sea views or beach access but not essential, for a few nights, to be near family for a visit so not more than an hour and a half from North Glasgow. Any suggestions? Troon maybe? Anyone been to nice sites there? Thanks very much.

Lesley - have a look at Cashel Campsite, Balmaha, on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond. Camp on the lochside. Our dog loved this place, and no sand in your accomodation, so relaxed for everyone. Not near any entertainment. Forest walks. Might be a Midge or two, but beautiful views. I have a pinboard on this site. Less than one hour from Bearsden - probably 30mins depending on traffic on outskirts of Glasgow.

Camping and Caravanning Club Site at Culzean Castle, south of Ayr looks like a nice site with lots of walks in the Country park. You have views out to sea and walk down through the woodland takes you to the shore. I have not stayed on the site but did visit the country park on sunday and would like to stay sometime at the site. One hour from Glasgow.

Thanks very much for the recommendations Bob. Posted by Lesley Bruce on 01 Sep 2016
We live in Paisley and have a handful of sites which we visit regularly because they are within an hour of home. The obvious one for you is the C&CC site at Luss.
Cobleland at Arrochar is a lovely site on the banksof the river Forth.
Culzean is nice.
Craigie in Ayr.
Blair Drummond in Doune.
The Walled garden outside Ayr
All have good facilities and walks nearby. All take caravans and tents apart from Craigie which is caravan club .

Hi Karen. Thanks for your reply. I've only just had a notification so I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner, but that's a great list so thanks again. Posted by Lesley Bruce on 29 Oct 2016
