My caravan constantly seems to be covered in this green slimy stuff. It is parked on concrete and there aren't many trees nearby. I've tried quite a few caravan washes but it just seems to come back really quickly and then I have to wash it again.....not great as we are on a water meter!!!!! Anybody know of a wash that will stop this happening?

Hi Tim

The green algae is forming because of the absence of (normally) sunlight, which stops the build up naturally. I have also heard from some of our customers that parking the caravan close to the house wall (especially if it near the central heating boiler exhaust where there is a regular supply or warm damp air) makes the problem worse.

Solution (not sure), wash your vehicle with Fenwicks Caravan Cleaner;

Then apply either an overwintering solution or a good quality wax sealer like Silky:

Hope this helps

We had that problem a few times and we then started using Fenwick's Caravan Cleaner to wash our caravan. If its still happening spray on Fenwick's Over Wintering Fluid and this stops the green growing!

it may depend on how often you clean the van , I have never had it myself , so I cant really give you a solution , but I clean my caravan about every 5 weeks including the roof and because I clean the roof , I hardly get any black streaks , and I polish it once a year Posted by joe croft on 17 Mar 2013

Although fenwicks is quite good short term (it is just a glorified aquawax). A better longer term solution is to wax the van using a good quality wax.

Pampervan is brilliant for cleaning caravans, easily removes green and streaks and
leaves a lovely finish.
